How necessary is "Eye Candy?"
I didn't plan on starting a topic, but this thought came to mind. How necessary is "Eye candy?"
I suppose that there is a broad way of looking at the subject as well as a narrow way.
The broad way is that a typical female won't really care because their focus is on Prince in this case, and the men will be happy that they will have "T-n-A." to look at.
The narrow question is what has me curious, that is, when a musician is as substantial to the music world as Prince is, why would he as a musician need this as a part of his stage act?
It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Sex sells. Whether its Prince showing the ladies a lil chest or whether its the Twinz showing the men some legs-it all sells. Yes Prince really doesn't need any of it-it has become a part of his persona and appeal. Afterall, this is the man who use to be on stage in his draws/bikini he can't get away from it-hell he started it!

Ya, just check some of the threads on here, by hers truly for example and you know how extremely important "eye candy" is.
To some.
Not to me and I am sure not to most. But some...
yeah ... | |

^ No you didn't I am certainly an admirer of a lil Prince eye candy, but the credit for originating that persona is all his.

^lol that's true | |

in the old days when he pushed his sexuality it contributed alot, now as he's older it's not important at all to me. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

I understand that sex sells, but by the time the entertainers are on the stage they have already been guarenteed a paycheck.
The twinz wearing standard glitzy stage clothes is one thing...The baby doll lingere is another story. That only appears to be Prince's eye candy. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

In the late 70's/early 80's, it was just a different time.
"Sensationalism," for an hour on stage, has nothing to do with the modest approach toward a stage performance that a matured person of 53 years old should have.
I saw the pictures from the Summer tour. Andy Allo looked respectable for the most part until the "Zurich," show.
When I saw the pictures I thought, "What a shame..." And it was Prince's responsibility to tell her to change clothes. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Personally, I never cared for the Twinz but like you said Prince likes em. I'd be in heaven with just Prince a guitar and his voice, but there has to be other things to excite the concert goer, cuz not everybody thinks Prince is attractive, but they do recognize his musical genius.

Hmmm...Other things to excite the concert goer. Well...That's a deep subject. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Actually, Prince has had "eye candy" on stage ever since SOTT.
Also, I think it has something to do with his larger, theater in the round type shows.... He needs to fill up space on that stage.

The twinz fill space in glitter pants. They should get paid less for less clothing because they don't fill the space well enough. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

In all honesty, I just can't see past the hypocricy of it.
Prince has claimed J.W. Christianity and has fallen short of the whole lifestyle.
I as a fan am personally disappointed in his behavior. I guess I just expected him to be in a different light at his age and spiritual growth.
Prince has said in a few interviews that he did not want to be "Of The World." There are certain sacrifices that we make for the Heavely Father that Prince totally ignored over the summer.
In the name of money and Christianity, that is "All In Vain!" It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

I realize that one one hand it's a stage show, on the other hand having "Eye Candy," on stage is saying that "Real Music, by Real Musicians," isn't enough.
The first ten rows including Prince's row are the only people at the concert benefiting from a sexy thrill.
"Eye Candy," also says that the dancers don't have enough faith in their craft as "dancers or background singers," if they have to dress like they are in a gentlemans club.
The International circle that Prince is already in, needs nothing but Prince and his guitar or piano truthfully. Everything else is all pizazz. Of course I love the band...
What does Larry Graham say about it I wonder? Prince sings about the nitty-gritty on "The Truth."
Maybe it just goes to show that following a musician that has grown "Spiritually as a man," through the music has not panned out on a Biblical chart.
People say that Prince wants women around him to have the "Whole," package, and sadly, he doesn't.
4-giveness is easy...But the hurt from the let-down doesn't go away.
Instead of Prince becomming more spiritually illuminating, Prince has portrayed himself as a man that could not be devoted to one woman in his lifetime.
What does Prince honestly believe that Jesus would say about his road, "Eye Candy?"
In my honest judgemental opinion, I would say that it was a "No More Candy 4-U" un-necessary stage tactic for a man that has so much substance in his music. [Edited 8/28/11 18:41pm] It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Au contraire, the less they wear, the more money they save Prince. Hence, the money saved should be given back to them.

Eye Candy is subject to your own definition. I agree, just give me Prince and any instrument and I'm happy. Prince's Sarah

Do you think I'd even be bothered with a temepermental man of small stature if he WASN'T freakishly good-looking. Hell yes, his "eye-candy"ness is as importaint as his musicianship.
And as far as Prince carting around flashy women...do you really think Prince would step out with a woman that was less than a 10? Don't think so. LOL. I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

I can understand Misty dancing beautifully in a beautiful dress as she has.
I cannot see a man that has gone on and on about his relationship with God, ex: "You cannot serve two masters." Then have Andy Allo wear thigh high boots with a shirt that barely covers her ass as some kind of "Style." It just looks like Prince is carting around a stripper. If Andy Allo can sing, and has worn dresses, and has looked appropriate on stage, why wouldn't she continue to do so?
Does Prince look out at the audience of the world and say, "Every other person is a Christian?" I suppose not. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

there's no such thing as JW Christianity. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

Prince looking attractive is one thing...minus the lacey yellow pants of the past, (Those had their day, and it's gone)
Prince being around beautiful women is expected, what they wear that represents Prince's spiritual growth reflects on him and his well rounded decision making...
Andy Allo, The Twinz, etc. are all beautiful girls...Why wear what is only appropriate for a husband behind closed doors, on stage? I can understand Andy Allo not comprehending that, I cannot see Prince not comprehending that.
And to say that Prince wouldn't step out with someone less than a Ten...underestimates his genuine nature to love everyone equally.
Stage Presence should be mature at his "spiritual-age."
We know that Prince isn't Billy Graham, but still, jeans and a T-shirt would have more spiritual taste than Andy Allo's sleeze puppy fashion in Zurich. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

I don't know what else to call Prince's denomination of Christianity. Should I call it Zurich Switzerland stripper Christianity? It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Believe it or forget it, some folks think Andy Allo is extremely talented. She has over 11,000 fans on facebook and gets raves. I am wondering how popular she would be if she were introduced and performed on, say, Sheila E's band. Don't understand how the lack of guitar knowledge gets past people. Her voice is ok, actually sweet, but putting a guitar in her hands and arms is really deceptive. Just remembering in the '60's when the Monkey's were discovered to have been music instrument challenged. Supposedly they learned how to play, but really did they? The Leaf Shall Inherit The Earth.

he doesn't follow any form of christianity. jw's don't believe jesus was god. thats what 1+1+1=3 is about. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

The only Big Picture that I can see as a fan is watching Prince grow musically over the years as a musician. And of course growing as a spiritual man.
Prince can tell musicians that join him on stage that "Swearing is inappropriate." At the same time he will allow a 23 year old girl to dress inappropriately for the stage. There is nothing else to believe than Prince is someone that serves only his personal agenda. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Funkyrake...
Andy Allo being talented in any way is wonderful. What difference does it make if she dresses like she is in mature company.
In Zurich she dressed for Prince as a stripper for his attention. That is immature and was Prince's responsibility to babysit. I expect more from a 53 year old man. Prince must've been spending the summer wishing he was 25 years old again, and he lost my respect in the process. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

Being saved 5 years before I was baptised, I don't comprehend anything but Jesus being the avenue of example that God sent for all of us. The way. The Truth, and The Life.
Even if JW's do not believe that Jesus is the son of God/God in the Flesh, it doesn't justify his hypocritical immoral behavior in the name of "Rock-n-Roll." Where's the discipline?
Prince fine tunes his guitar doesn't he? I thought he was a perfectionist?
Andy Allo dressed inappropriately one night is one night too many. I think he needs to clean up his act. It's shabby to let that happen. It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

I'm gonna rap up my opinion by saying one more thing.
Either Prince gets it or he doesn't. There's nothing that he can do about it now, there is only something that can be done in the future.
When we follow Prince all of these years and watch him grow as a man in his relationship with God, and we admire him for that, some of us may be surprised or disappointed by a guy that has any female dressed in something you would not wear to church or you would not wear to a fine dining restaurant. (U know what I mean)
It's not 1982 or 3 or even "All that Jazz," Diamonds and Pearls era.
That is how I feel about Prince and the company he keeps, regardless of how talented a person is.
If Prince had never portrayed himself through songs like:
"The Christ," "Thunder," "lion of Judah," even songs that quote proverbs 31....we wouldn't have expected Prince to have grown up and above the worldly ways of promoting sexuality. Prince also claimed celibacy and only modest apparel illuminates that example.
Prince has reached the age of accountability and only someone that cares for his welfare would be honest enough to make these statements.
It's just this simple....Andy...Wear a skirt! It's an uphill climb to the finish line.
