will prince have any more paisley park celebrations ?

i went to the one in 2001...a last minute thing...didnt want to miss out on getting into paisley park and meeting prince so i jumped on a plane to minneapolis on one days notice....i really enjoyed it but i think i would enjoy it more now if there was ever another one....imagine the line up he could have during the week long event...i would love to see him have a look back at his paisley park label and have artists like

the time

the family

jill jones

mazarati

shelia e

and others who were on the label...i know its unlikely but i wonder if he would ever do another one ?

after recent history RE: The Family and The Time, I doubt they'll be gearing up to help Prince out...and I doubt Jill would cross the road for Prince nowdays...

he's not only burned bridges in the 'corporate music industry'....he's left a lot of people behind too, for whatever reasons...

I wish he did have another celebration though...I couldn't afford to fly to the other two....maybe next time...although with Prince's ways of cancelling things at the last minute I probably would risk it....hell, I'm wondering if I'll even go over the ditch next time he's in aussie..not if he keeps playing the same songs and all those damn covers....

They were all pretty great but 2002 was the epitome. A week of epic proportions. Not only did the fans appreciate the rare chance to be so close to our musical hero but I think we all felt appreciated by him as well. I can't believe it's going on a decade since it happened.

Eh, it was a pretty good Prince show but half of it was Shelby and Sly covers which was a little hard to take after a while. 3 hours and I nearly died of heat stroke lol.

Yeah, the one in 2002 was indeed epic. Way better than 2001's, and even that one wasn't bad. But, they had workshops all week, and there were 7 straight nights of performances by him, and I loved every minute of it. Very, very good week.

I think his NPG festivals are probably going to be a fixture for now, and they're probably the nearest you'll get to a celebration at the moment. But don't hold your breath for any of these to show up:

The Time - Prince has refused them the right to use the name. Why would they help him out?

The Family - Same as above.

Jill Jones - Seems to have an axe to grind with Prince, so I doubt she'd be keen on going.

Shelia E - Was recently quite vocal about not working with Prince again in the future.

I think the name issue with the Family would also preclude Wendy & Lisa working with him again, they seem to have cut ties again somewhat since that kicked off.

But then again, what do I know? Prince changes his mind more often than he changes his underpants.

blah blah blah

I wish he would do more shows there, I'd be all up in that! I am not lucky enough to have been to one of his shows at PP but sure hope and pray that he starts them back up. Now would be a good time...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

The celebrations at Paisley Park in 2000, 2001 and 2002 were some of the happiest times of my life. Not only was it a dream come true to finally see what Paisley Park was like inside and experience some truly intimate performances from Prince and guests, but it was also a great opportunity to meet and make friends with so many other Prince fans from around the world. I miss those days so much and will cherish the memory of them forever. smile

The 2002 Celebration was $250 for the week. When they announced the price, it seemed like way too much. But once you were there and realized what you were getting, it felt like such a steal. He could've played 7 regular concerts nearly anywhere and made 20 times that total revenue.

i'd pay $700 for it right now if guaranteed different set lists/styles every night. who can forget the excitement of night 4 when the setup was obviously going to be a Prince acoustic set.

To me it initially seemed too much because i had seen Prince dozens of times in Paisley Park for free or a token $7. Needless to say, because of those incredible Friday nights, I have never been able to be too angry with him for how he's treated fans.
