June 7, 1984 Soundboard

I'm listening to the June 7, 1984 Soundboard that recently surfaced. I cannot believe my ears. I am stunned that a recording of this stellar quality has finally seen the light of day. This is the kind of recording that I expected Prince to release when I paid for membership in the NPGMC years ago. If you haven't already tracked this down, you must. Whoever was working the boards that night knew exactly how to make the Revolution shine. The mix is tremendous. UNBELEIVABLE.

I must have clicked the wrong emoticon box, as I obviously meant to put a HUGE smiley on that last post!

It's the NEW "Small Club" and a new standard by which all others should be compared. The Montreux 2009 soundboard is fairly amazing as far as sound quality goes as well...but THIS is just miraculous as far as historical value and the fact that we get "Roadhouse Garden" is the icing on the cake ! All I can think about every time I throw this on is how much I absolutely LOVE the rendition of "Noon Rendezvous" on here....Good GAWD !!!!

"Spanish Castle Magic" from Montreaux is one of those goosebump moments. Unbelievable energy.

4DF 86-87 is Wembley Arena 3.3.95, it's a 2disc release.

4DF 84-85 is First Avenue '86, not Vendi, Vini Vici. First Avenue '86 is a different source for that show and quality is far, far superior to that of VVV.

There is a torrent of the '84 Birthday Soundboard, but it is in FLAC.

Yeah I knew, I just call it VVV out of nostalgia (I'd have loved it if they'd kept the original title).

Thanks 4 the info regarding Wembley biggrin I c it's an audience recording and I usually hate these, particularly when they're from large avenues, so I guess I'll pass on this one sad

Well, it is a good audience recording, not fantastic, but good all the same, and a great Gold era show.

Was it not you who recently download the entire 4DF catalogue? If it was you, then it would be a shame to exclude this one from your collection.

Or to avoid converting to WAV first, then to mp3 and all that faff, convert flac direct to mp3 using this freebie http://www.dvdvideosoft.c...verter.htm

Exactly. I keep my downloads in flac and just play them from my external HD's, I don't even bother burning to cd anymore.

It's shameful that some people are still keeping stuff in mp3, or -EVEN WORSE- looking for ways of converting precious flacs into pure rubbish.

The last thing I hoped I could read is people complaining about putting torrents in flac.

They couldn't have 'kept' the title because it was not a reworking or a tweak of that boot. It was a totally new uncirculating source. Go ask Sabotage how much they liked it...

There was no need to maintain such a stupid title.

First, I prefer FLAC. So not arguing that point.

2nd, I convert to mp3... for my fucking iPod that doesn't play FLAC. Most mp3 players don't play FLAC. Therefore, many of us convert to mp3 "rubbish" for our portable players. I do have all my FLACs backed up to my external of course...

and yeah, complaining about FLAC is ridiculous. Just get the high quality FLAC and convert if necessary. If you have a slow connection. Sorry. This is 2011.

It was me indeed, but I already erased some of the audience recordings. No need to keep stuff I'll never listen to again...

CD? U mean these flat plastic circles? They still make them? Mmmh... CD are so 90's...

No seriously dudes, once I got it, flac is ok with me (even though my 1T hard drive is already almost full sad ), it's for the downloads that it's a hassle.

I never complained about TORRENTS being in Flac, I complained about direct download links in Flac. Some people happen to live in 3rd world countries with really slow internet connections (but on the other hand, here download and filesharing are legal and the RIAA can go to hell lol ).

Most of my music is in mp3 (including my old CD collection which I did rip in 320 mp3), the main reason being that I have more than 2500 albums and that for one thing, most of them were downloaded on P2P's where u don't find a lot of things in Flac, and the other reason being that when u have such a quantity of music files (and i ain't even mentioning the films!), u need to save some space if u wanna keep everything on a single 2.5 hard-disc.

U might say I favored quantity over quality. I'll tell u that I don't hear much of a difference between 320 mp3 and Flac, and that the fact that I don't really care about Prince remastering his old albums says it all lol

Different folks, different strokes, u know wink

But who knows, if one day Flac becomes the definitive 4mat and everything is available in Flac and I have a hi-speed connexions and they make 10T 2.5 discs, maybe I'll d/l everything again in Flac wink

This truly is an incredible recording. It's like I've never heard it before. I never thought I would be able to jam to his 1984 Birthday show in my car! I've listened to All Day All Night in my car for a week straight to and from work. Just amazing!!
