JUst saw a cover shot of this on the prince.org homepage? What was it - a Prince inspired mag? Anyone know what's in it?

It was an official Prince fan club that started around 1985, if I recall correctly. I think I got the address from the Purple Rain tourbook. For a small fee you got a membership card, the magazine in question, and I also received a free PR tourbook. I really don't remember what was in the mag and am definitely not going on the hunt for it, but I do remember it having pictures of Prince and the Revolution from the Purple Rain tour. I think it only lasted for a couple of years. I remember ordering a poster of Prince from UTCM that had the caption "With Love There Is No Death' and I also remember getting a mini-mag prior to SOTT being released with Prince in a yellow outfit and wearing a black hat, but I don't recall what else was in that either. Sorry.

^ Thanks, looks interesting, I didn't know there was an 'official' Prince fan club, sounds a bit like an early form of the NPGMC for the pre-digital age

I still have the postcard that was included with my vinyl copy of "Sign 'o' the Times" 2 join New Breed around here somewhere.

I know Sexuality is a cool song and all, but to me - the whole "New Breed" thing he throws around always sounded very...Nazi to me, frankly. Like how the Third Reich's Aryan Race were really New Breed people. Hitler's idea of a funky good time. He actually had camps set up for Germanic people of superior blood lines/racial qualities to indiscriminately get it on and have perfect little nazi kids to populate the newly annexed lands they were working on (esp Russia, which they expected to just take as they pleased). There are people in the world borne of this (literally New Breed people) , and they're not very happy about their circumstance.

I always took this to be a cultural reference - ie. means a new breed of culture / a trend among people rather than an actual physical breed of person.

I was a member of "The New Breed"...it was Prince's early fan club and sent out some cool stuff during th Purple Rain tour...membership cards and glossy photos and was well worth the small cost.

And I don't remember it being a "magazine". That pic on Prince org is of this big foldout that was sent...probably had a poster on one side of it but I don't remember.
