Has Rotterdam stolen the throne from Small Club?

As much as I love it and feel mucho nostalgia, I think this show is head and shoulders above Small Club. The setlist is eclectic, mixing fun extended jams with great COMPLETE versions of great Prince songs and covers. The band is tight as can be, and Prince's guitar playing, (especially the last three tracks), is simply incredible! Calhoun Square has got THE best licks between the vocal lines that I could just loop it for days.
I think if I had to have a desert island disc, this would be the one.
In my opinion, it speaks volumes about the man and the agruements that he has lost his edge. Beautiful Strange, hitting the solo where Prince is just screamin' and so is his guitar... That BE the edge!

Chill factor - EXTREME.

Rotterdam, Rotterdam, we come to jam! What do YOU think?

Maybe it's better to say Bataclan/Nighttown/Copenhagen are
the "small club" of this era.

No logic to compare.

CalhounSq said it ALL !!

BATACLAN- worship SMOKES on the Rotterdam/Nighttown show.

My NIGHTTOWN just recently arrived & had I NOT listened
to the Bataclan show prior to ,then MAYBE Nighttown might
be the reigning champ = to Small Club.

This is NOT an arguement, I was enjoying the Nighttown
set, but it did not move me as much as Bataclan. As a
matter of fact, while I was listening to Bataclan,
my thought was ...
Bataclan ='s Small Club.

"Good Morning 2 U !"

nod I was convinced Nighttown was the most amazing show ever... UNTIL I heard Bataclan! Nighttown is still amazing, but Bataclan has its everlasting hooks in me...

I do like the first track (intrumental) on Nighttown better than the one on Bataclan. But the segue from Bambi to Whole Lotta Love is killer. Something in the Water is killer. Q of U/The One/Fallin' is better on Bataclan too...

I don't know which is better, I don't own Batclan, all I know is Thank God for the bootlegs.
I love bootlegs, I wish I owned all of them, but I don't think I have enough time left in my life time to listen to all of them.

I have just listened to NIGHTTOWN once, so maybe I just not have a well formed opinion. However, I found this concert somewhat... boring, or something. And please don't flame me for this. It's just that there was very little that I haven't heard before at other ONA recordings. I know, I know... The 2nd disc is an asskicker, but... come on folks, there's no need to compare it to "The Trojan Horse" one!. That's a MYTH! Maybe a bit overrated but no one can touch "Small Club". In the same way as no one can touch "Parade" or "Sign O' The Times". Maybe I could enjoy more "TRC" or whatever, but there are certain things which are on another level. ...

One thing though -sure the sound quality on the NIGHTTOWN disc doesn't do justice to the performance. Maybe that's the problem?

I don't really want to compare them against each other, but Beautiful Strange at Nighttown is simply one of the most intense things I have ever heard him do.
It's barely hearable through all that noise but try to listn to the solo closely. In the middle of it, he screams along with the guitar.

The fire in that man is burning. He's possessed! worship

The Nighttown gig is only available as an audience recording, but a fantastic one! No comparison to old audience recordings.

Bataclan was really amazing, but I almost wanted to drag him offstage when it got around to 5 and 5:30 in the morning and he was still going strong. I know this topic was already covered, but people were actually sleeping standing up towards the end. Me included! lol

I can understand that (somehow)! My back hurt and I was exhausted after the main concert... another 2 hours of waiting and 2 hours of standing for a concert?

... HELL YEAH!
