-Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge Movies?

_The only real connection I am noticing in all 3 is, Death.

-PR, had the father with the gun

-UCM, had the father with the gun

-GB, had the death of Spirit.

-Can any of you see anything else that connects these films?

Graffiti Bridge is the sequel to Purple Rain and features Prince as The Kid as well as Morris Day & the Time

Oh yah I forgot about him in UTCM

All 3 had soundtracks with (at least) 1 hit single

All had a relatively unkown female play Prince's lover

-Another thing that is similar,

-all 3 are abstract.

-PR with the music

-UCM with the vision

-GB with the..., this is the hard part,

-Emotion.

-The Jerome character is interesting

-In all three films he is a rival.

-Lord have mercy!

-See no evil

-Hear no evil

-Speak no evil

The connection is that they are 3 horrible films that should've never been made.

-What most facinates me is the theme of death.

-I have cried when certain scenes come on:

-Like the father physically abusing the son in PR

-the death scene in UTCM

-and then ending song of GB.

I always found Purple Rain quite gritty and dark

UTCM is more uplifting but with a heavy dose of narcisssim

Graffti Bridge is uplifting and has a positive message (if you can overlook a lot of the set)

-UTCM has a heavy dose of death, Christopher Tracy gets killed by his lover's father!

-I know it is just a movie but that is too painful to watch because I really wanted him to win,

-he went all out on a limb for her, even went all the way to the airport to steal his women,

-but poor Christopher, he is loved by so many.

-That father slap in PR is just way too painful to watch, there is where I said (IMHO),

-Prince should of won an Oscar for acting, and I know people will defo disagree,

-but if it made me cry, that is some EXCELLENT acting.

-GB, that movie is sooooo emotional for me and I think it is because WHERE it was filmed at,

-everybody talks about lack of this or that in the movie, but to me it is the best movie.

-What I do enjoy about each movie is that, each movie has that UNDERGROUND feel to it,

-a feeling that I am familiar with.

There's a performance scene[s] in all three movies....

Prince is an asshole in all three movies......

-I have thought about the asshole part but more because,

-I did noticed in all 3films that OTHERS are the assholes to him,

-so that IS the "cause" so to speak, so then here comes the "effect"

-You can tell in PR, when Prince is at the lake and asked the question,

-"So what IS your story?"

-You guys get it? Story, what is YOUR STORY?

-Prince has a lot of vision and it shows so clearly in the 3films.

This is the truth. The best films are the ones that make you cry, and the same can be said of songs, literature... You couldn´t be more pertinent with this comment.

They all feature:

1. Bad writing

2. Bad casting

3. Bad acting

4. Good music

Did anybody die in the SOTT movie? Besides Cat's career, I mean.

Michael Jackson played ping pong with Prince while Under The Cherry Moon was being edited.

A part in Grafitti Bridge was offered to Madonna, who turned it down. She also recruited to sing on Mike's In The Closet, but her suggestions were turned down by Mike.

-The casting I do have a bit of a problem with.

-I wished that Vanity had not left the film, despite the differences, but more should of been busted down to a lesser part like one of the waitresses.

-I ALSO wished that Sheila E. was in the film.

-That ending part in PR, gets me everytime,

-Because it could of easily segued into UTCM and if CT wouldn't had died, it could of segued into GB and then to other and more films from Prince.

-Is Prince could of made a BOX-set type like thing going on with his craft in Film.

-I can imagine soap-opera type mini movies from Prince,

-Prince is EXCELLENT for that type of film.

-Sheila E., seems like she as a sense of humor and she would of been great in PR film or any of the others because she can add that latino "Don't fuck with me, Morris!" type of emotion to the films.
