Having watched a lot of Prince's recent concert footage, I have to admit I've been dead wrong about his declining performance standards. Compared to the Prince of Dirty Mind and Controversy, he is an altogether more polished, subtle and sophisticated performer and his musicianship and singing kick the shit out of the early Prince - just watch the old performances and he looks awkward and self-conscious. True, he doesn't do the splits or swear anymore but I'll take the consummate performer with a huge back catalogue (when he chooses to play it!) over a guy who licks his guitar and dances at times like a hyperactive wannabe Mick Jagger. I've seen the future and it will be!

I agree about the musicianship and arrangements. They are much better than they used to be to me also.

I agree (and Jagger is still running aorund like a spazz at 85 years of age) but I do think Prince could still try licking or humping the hohner again...ever now and then.
