Who here has BOOKED travel PLANS 2 C Prince... Only to have the show cancelled?
I don't mean planning passively. I mean, flights have been booked, hotel rooms have been reserved, etc.
I believe there were a few for Ireland and a few for Dallas, correct?
I'm always curious about this and how (or if) people are ever compensated in any manner (apologies, refunds, etc.)

I don't know if it counts for much, but I did book a car to take me to the Dallas concert because the roads were terrible due to an ice storm, I didn't want to drive on them, and taxis were not an option due to overbooking for the Super Bowl. I got most of the money back but forfeited $150 to pay the driver, who had to wait for a while to see if Prince was going to hold the concert or not. If it hadn't been for CallMeCarrie telling us about the cancellation, I would have been out the full amount. So I guess I lost the equivalent of two LotusFlow3r memberships on the whole thing. Thankfully I got a full refund on the ticket prices, which were astronomically high. I was quite miffed when it later emerged that Prince was only supposed to play for a short time, although I was excited to get my mp3 version of 20Ten that all guests would have recieved. (You think I'm kidding? Search for those old Dallas threads, which link to the actual contract.)
I don't know if anyone actually booked a hotel reservation specifically for the Dallas concert because the Super Bowl was in town and I expect most visitors that weekend came with more than Prince in mind. San Francisco (from Oregon) in 1993 because it was supposedly Prince's last tour. Two tickets at $250 a pop for nose bleed seats. Of course, we all know now that Prince wasn't exactly being honest. The internet was around at that point, so most fans had no idea what kind of a flake Prince was.
In 1996, flew from Maui to Oahu to see him a few nights in a row.
No complaints here about those shows.
Prince doesn't think for a minute about the casual fan that flies into a city to see him. That's on the fan. He didn't force them to buy hotel or airfare. He only charged $25 to see him -- he didn't see any of the other $500 it cost someone to see him, so why should he care?
And that's why I haven't bothered to fly to see him in Vegas, L.A. or any other city he has performed in. He's shown very little other than disrespect for his fans for years now -- so why should anyone be surprised that he's cancelling a show at the last moment?
As if Prince is going to say he's sorry. When was the last time you heard Prince apologize -- for anything?

Just in case you're serious: He wasn't apologizing for a wrong. He was saying something for a response (applause).

Sort of like how, when he says, "Can I play my guitar?" I don't think he's actually asking for permission. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Somehow I think if Prince released a 50 page press release in which he apologised for anything he's done (or has been perceived to have done) in his 33+ year career that could possibly have upset or annoyed or offended someone in the world somewhere at some stage; for all the cancelled concerts, regardless of the reason they were cancelled; for the websites, for the burka comment, for all the music that someone didn't like, for the spiritual statements that people didn't understand or agree with, for everything, everything that he could possibly be expected to apologise for, the reaction on the org would be something along the lines of...
"That's what passes for spelling these days???"
"Like he's sincere. He just needs publicity."
"Look who's obviously burnt too many bridges and has come back like a dog with his tail between his legs!"
"Nice attempt to save face, asshole. Where's my $77???"
"Where are the remasters?"
"Where's Bria?"
Talk about rock hard in a - er, I mean stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Perhaps some of the folk that were at Malahide who missed out because of Croke Park actually believed his apparent 'fake' apology. Surely that alone makes it worthwhile, because at least some fans would be able to let go of their bitterness.

This thread now has an unsual air of flirtation, homoeroticism, and esoteric emotional larceny.
Am I the only that senses this?

Oh, that sucks
Obviously Oslo was all but out of his hands (not that it helps you, of course) - were you able to make it to the later show?
At least you got to play his guitar at Malahide Hope that eased some of the pain!!

I flew to LA to visit a friend and Prince was going to do a Jam of the Year show the night I touched down on the plane, so we bought tickets. He and his girlfriend (my friend, not Prince) picked me up at the airport and we went straight to the venue... and it was cancelled! I did get refunded though. Blenheim: never got a refund for the ticket, could not get a refund for the flight either, but was lucky that I managed to change it to another date and went to London for a couple of days some weeks later Udine: never got refund for the ticket either and only heard about it in my hotel in Udine, once I had arrived there. We went back home the same night and had to pay for the hotel and gas apart from the lost money for the tickets. They gave us a discount on the room though, as we didn'stay.
There were other tickets too that I did not get refunded when he changed the venue or the ticket got lost in the post, but I did not have to change any flights/hotels in those cases. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Yeah Oslo was totally understanble. Geneva pissed me right off though, no sign of a refund or ANY communication as to what happened or why either from P's camps (expected lol) or the promoter.. totally unacceptable.

I live in southern Germany (Lake Of Constance) and i bought a ticket for the Valby Idraetsparken Festival in Copenhagen (June 14th 1996) back in the days. I booked everything, hotel, train travel etc but prince cancelled the concert. I never got my money back and i didn´t go to the festival since i didn´t care about the other acts...
