You need to go back and listen to some early Sly ahahah. Because he sound just like Sly.

I've listened to early Sly. It don't sound like a Sly record. lol

Lol!! Tell 'im, Timmy!! lol

Let me guess, OP. You're comparing Prince vocals on this to Sly's on "Family Affair", right?

Nah not really. I just hear Sly in his voice. I never heard Prince use the voice he had on "All My Dreams".

I'm shocked that you've heard it, good for you. It's IS my favorite unreleased song even with the slow garbled middle part I digress.

biggrin I've been a fan for 3 years. I think I heard every Prince song that has surfaced.

From 2008-2010, I had at least 4,000 Prince songs on my computer. Imagine how many I have now. cool

It's like Sly by way of Paul McCartney.

"Both John and I had a great love for music hall, what the Americans call vaudeville... I very much liked that old crooner style, the strange fruity voice that they used, so Honey Pie was me writing one of them to an imaginary woman, across the ocean, on the silver screen, who was called Honey Pie. It's another of my fantasy songs."

In other words, Rudy Vallee and Ukelele Ike.

Thank you.

I can't believe that with it's surreal sound effects, halfway hidden messages with instructions to change the record speed to understand it, childlike fairytale song melodies, and telephone voice none of you are citing Paul McCartney.

Just listen to this entire track:

and then imagine Sly Stone doing that vibe, and then Prince writing the lyrics, and Wendy and Lisa adding their 2 cents.

It is Paul McCartney channeled through the funk of Sly Stone, and the sex story is vintage Prince lyrical content.

You can tell by the voice that he had Sly Stone in him at that moment.

The horns and the keyboards are very Sly Stone.

I'm on a Sly Stone high right now.

Prince sounds just like Sly in the song below.

Sly has a new album coming out, Bootsy on it too!! yippee!!! I have not heard it yet...
