What happened to 1987 - 1994? LOL. He was at his creative peak in '87 and his glammest/dirtiest in 1992. I'd vote for those.

Lovesexy 88 is my pick. I just looked at the concert the other day from Dortmund 88 and my thoughts wandered through the Lovesexy concert that I went to in Oslo. The goosebumps are still flying! What a show, what a program (just image if he still did Bob George!) and the sound was excellent. And did I forget, Sheila was flying on those drums! I gotta see this again!!! Please God make that happen

My first concert was a Purple Rain show in 1985 and my last was at Paisley Park in Oct 2009. I've pretty much seen everything in between and for me personally anything after 1996 was a meek comparison to prior years. The excitement in him to play new songs was ever present up until 1996, then the shows just turned into greatest hits ventures over and over. I didn't get to see Parade or SOTT live since they didn't tour the states with those other than some hit and run shows for Parade, so I would have to pick 1986 or 1987. TRUE BLUE

I would either choose a Sign O The Times or a Lovesexy or a Gold Experience Show. If I had to cut it down to one, Sign O The Times would be my choice. See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

1981/82 - Dirty Mind/Controversy Era 1985/86 - Purple Rain/UTCM Era 1995/96 - O+>/The Beautiful Experience Era 2011 - The Hits Era
Definitely the Purple Rain era, just to see the Revolution performing in their prime. They are awesome to see on video so I can only imagine how great they were live. [Edited 8/22/11 13:20pm]
