The Undertaker 1993 video (the first, limited, release) Hi y'all
A few months ago in another thread, someone here claimed that the 1993 video release was similar to the unreleased audio version, but I just got the "Ultimate Undertaker" DVD and it features both the 93 and 95 versions, and the 93 version seems quite similar to the 95 video version, with the full intro and the main difference being "Dolphin". I didn't check yet if "The Ride" and "Poorgoo" were edited and if Vanessa Marcil pukes in the middle of "The Ride", though. So just to make things clear and definitive: the 1993 version on the Ultimate Undertaker DVD IS the version that was released on VHS in 93?

the version credited to O{+> has the live version of dolphin that is on the cd. the released version is credited to prince and has the studio version of dolphin overdubbed, but everything else is the same. the puking is on both versions of the video but not on the cd. so 3 slightly different sound mixes

I am still looking for the original video version, that was only sold via NPG Store. Reportedly 1000 copies were sold, but I have never seen it being sold on ebay, strange enough !!
Please mail me if you have the original video and want to sell it I AM LOOKING FOR USED PRINCE CONCERT TICKETS ... https://www.facebook.com/...erttickets

I think I got the `1993 version. I never checked. My BF just handed it to me one day and said check it out.
But mine has the chick blowing chunks in the middle of The Ride. I love a Man who:

as far as i'm aware it was never sold. the stores were sent copies to show instore. i remember going to the NPG store in camden and they had just received it and i sat in the cafe upstairs on my own as the only customer, they gave me the remote control and put on the video and said just play as loud as you want and i got a plate of chips and a coke and watched it for the first time. absolutely amazing. then they had another tape with the canal+ tv show from 94 doing endorphinemachine and maybe one more tv performace from the time
i asked to buy a copy but they said it was for the store only. they also told me some crap about having special shit in the walls to stop bootleggers
thus i imagine the only people to have an original would be folks who got one from one of the stores or clubs. as the only circulating bootlegs of the original version seem to be taken from copies of the tape rather than an original, i think that's pretty much proof it wasn't sold as otherwise a better bootleg copy would have turned up

According to Xenophobia 2002 who probably took this info from the Vault book:

1993-12-06: we even have a release date. Now look what I found (from TheDigitalGardener):
"original release date..Dec 6th 1993. This is the original version of The Undertaker film, which was slightly revised for the official '95 release. The video was a limited edition of 1000 copies and sold for $50 each. the original version focuses on the "live" performance, ommiting the footage of Vanessa Marcil. It contains the full version of Poor Goo (a portion of whichwas edited out of the '95 version of the film) and a full live version of Dolphin (instead of overdubbing the ending with the studio recording of the song, as was done on the '95 version of the film). No company is listed i.e WB."
Now the version from the Ultimate Undertaker DVD can't have been faked so either Gardener is mistaken or we now have THREE video versions around (??? )

The funny thing is that in yet another thread, another orger told me that though he had not watched it, his own copy of the 1993 video listed a 36 minutes lenght, just like the audio version and unlike the 1995 video version, therefore seemingly confirming what Gardener said. So I'm more and more confused A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

i've never known anyone to ever have an original copy of the undertaker of that version. the ultimate undertaker dvd is taken from a second gen (at least) tape and not a first gen tape as far as i can tell from the video quality
i would presume the figures relate to how many copies were run off for the stores and clubs internal use, and paisley park use, rather than for sale
as far as i'm aware there are only 2 versions of the video, the first "symbol" version that was for inhouse use and the second "prince" version that was released
