Prince is 45 years old. He's old enough and ugly enough to make his own decisions in life. If the JW thing is working for him now, that's his decision and none of our business. I think TRC is one of his very best pieces of work. My brain has been filtering out the quasi-religious mumbo jumbo from Prince's music since the early 80s, so I enjoy the album immensely. His music is still great. He has said some wacky things at the shows though. Who cares? Peace and Love!

That is a nice thing to say, you appreciate him for the Artist that he is, regarless of his religious preference. I actually started listening to him again since he clean it all up. And I am glad that he is my brother too. Its a win/win situation for me. Sincerely, Sincerely,

lovebird said: Everyone is right when they say Prince is an adult and he has the right to live his life anyway that makes him happy.
But, with this JW thing, don't be surprised when the fans see and hear less of him as he gets in deeper and deeper. Someone told me he wasn't baptised, and of course noone knows what he is going to do next.We will have to wait and see. At one of the ONA shows, Prince said I want to thank Larry and Tina Graham for showing me how to read the bible right and some people booed. Than he said sometimes I feel like I want to quit and than the crowd really booed so he said no more. But, it is completely out of our hands, but being a JW is not like being a Baptist or Catholic, or any other religion. It is completely different. That is a really good point! But why do you feel this way? Would it be better for his fans if he was Baptist or Catholic? Sincerely [This message was edited Sat Feb 15 20:44:04 PST 2003 by jwsis1986] Sincerely,

since being in2 P from Emancipation Era i have LOVED P's Music & his lyrics r "Thought Provoking". i always wondered what P would b like if he did a "Cat Stevens" being a Muslim & all i thought it would b interresting but P has always talked about God & Religion & what have u.
i still think that P "Is Not a JW". he may study with JWs but he is NOT a JW. with P's mind being so OPEN & Free i didn't think he'd succumb 2 a PARTICULAR Faith. yeah, he reads a certain Bible but that's just it... but i hear what every1 is sayin & it's still Love & all about the Music. if P started studyin' Budhism then i'd still b there @ a Concert or buyin' the album... oh... & the man still has Sex Appeal... Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Well, from what I understand (and I may be wrong), but Prince always had a relatively strong moral compass, that's why the Black Album wasn't released back in the day...I think the JW's have only served to deepen his faith.
With that said, my problem with The Rainbow Children is that it's music that, although I find it funky and beautiful, I can't really care about. That's not to say that I think it's bad, I just think it's not for me. That's never happened before with a Prince album. I don't know if that's a reflection of his association with the Jehovah's Witnesses, or if it's just Prince being "experimental" so to speak, but I do know that I am anxious to see if he's going to continue on this current musical path.

It's interesting to see the changes Prince is undergoing in a musical sense. That's one of the reasons I like the TRC Album. You can hear him branching out. Miles Davis said in his autobiography that a great musician has to be able to "stretch" musically and he mentions that Prince can certainly stretch. I like the fact that I can go back and hear new things all the time (from a musician's standpoint) on any of the TRC songs. I think that whatever spritual path he's on right now gives him freedom in his personal life and it also comes out in his music. I think that he loves the exploration of that newfound sense of freedom and wherever his path takes him, it has changed him and he likes that. "I ordered no broth!
