Newbies to Prince live in concert

Have you ever taken a non-Prince fan to a Prince concert and they still didn't like or respect him afterwards? I took a colleague of mine to one of the O2 shows in London back in '07 to give him a bit of old school musicology and he came away saying it was OK but nothing special! I was gutted!

I purchased a ticket for my mom back in December to attend a NJ concert, along with me and my three teens. She backed out at the last minute and my brother went in her place. He robbed me of my Prince high immediately when the show concluded. He complained NON STOP about being shook and almost pushed down the steps on his way to the bathroom by a girl screaming and crying while Prince sang Purple Rain. Then he proceeded to tell me how he knows for a fact that Prince is part of the Illuminati. rolleyes He said that when the lights went out and Prince danced his solo in the lit circle that was part of his salute to the cult. eek Here I was trying to navigate through a congested parking lot, with bootleggers harassing me as we moved at snail pace, and my brother on the inside hollering about how me and my children are brainwashed. It got so bad that I put his tail out before we hit the NJ turnpike. Well...I told him to get out and by then it was a full out heated debate. mad He was ready to take a flight and I told him to jump out while I rode pass the airport exit. lol To make a long story short, he cut that craziness out after we hit a sheet of ice before making it to the turnpike and slid. We ended up getting a hotel room and by 6 the next mornng he had chilled out. He still don't like Prince to this day. He said the little n**** can play the guitar, that's all. eek So whenever he needs a ride, or comes to my house, I make sure Prince is playing. I know, I know. I ain't right. lol

I took my bf to see Prince in LA during the 21 Night Stand and he was floored. He loves live shows but Prince just blew him away. We went back four times. The low ticket price for the 21 Night Stand was also a factor in convincing friends and co-workers to go see him and all reports were positive and enthusiastic. Most of my friends and including my beloved had absolutely no idea how amazing Prince is. As casual fans they just new the hits and the antics that get reported by the media.

I took my girlfriend to the Malahide gig recently and initially she was blown away by him, she has watched the video to little red corvette from the gig about 30 times, so I thought superb, I've managed to convert her. Today in the car though, I was playing loads of new Prince stuff thinking she would appreciate it, but she said something that really pissed me off! She said that if I'd just been introduced to Prince now, instead of when I was 12, I would absolutely hate it. Obviously I argued with her and denied this but she's adamant! I may have to reconsider our relationship!!

I took my boyfriend to the Malahide gig. Now, my boyfriend has always liked Prince's music but its never really been anything more for him. But, he wasn't in the mood for this concert. I couldn't stop saying how amazing it was going to be... Well, he thought it was absolutely amazing! Haha! I KNEW he would. I'm so glad he enjoyed it and he said he'd definitely do it again! lol The next day he mentioned about having to rip all of my Prince CD's to his computer haha! cool
