(clapping hands!) -Ok, maybe I can expalin it to you, Bowie is from an era called 'GLAM,' (yes! with capital letters) -This era is Very Special and not many can enter it. Select Few. -Prince came out in the late 70's BUT, Prince has been doing his thing since he got caught up at his dad's house with a female, the 70's. -Kanye thinks he can re-vamp GLAM, but HE CAN'T, PERMISSION was not granted, it was denied.

^ Bowie wasn't just glam rock either, he had a lot of different styles: folk rock (in the beginning), Baroque rock (also in the beginning), psychedelic rock, funk rock (later, with "Fame" in particular), soul, new wave, industrial rock (later), pop rock (around his "most successful" period). But yeah his music was essential to the '70s.

^- -Sorry to break your heart, but Bowie start in GLAM 1st, he Loves GLAM. -Bowie is a special man.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No he didn't. His first album goes back to 1967 and it wasn't even CLOSE to glam rock.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
- 'Folk Music' was a cover up of the GLAM dear. -Prince had the GLAM from observing someone he knew who dressed more the part, when he was starting out with Grand Central Station, and that was like in '72.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nah it wasn't a cover up. It's kinda like Marc Bolan and T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex). It's unclear who came up with "glam rock" in the first place. Bowie didn't start up the "glam image" until The Man Who Sold the World though.

Now, you're being exactly what you're accusing Kanye of being. AN ASS!!! So much for trying to stay an adult mode. And, in case you haven't noticed, people write songs about personal experiences all of the time. Stop being so bias in your thinking.

Agree, I've asked that same question, but the only thing that some on here seem to want to do is compare the two musically. Which is something that shouldn't even be on the table. Maybe, because they can't accept the fact that Prince has had his share of "asshollisms". No one deserve a pass for being an asshole...including the namesake on this fansite!!! Then there's the person who wants to say that people who buy Kanye's music are stupid. Wow, I mean, that reminds me of the 2 year-old who sits at the dinner table says "ugh...that's nasty" to the food on your plate. Just because they don't like it, doesn't mean that no one else should either.

Um, I'm not one of your girlfriends, so you can keep the terms of endearment to yourself, please. Let us keep this thing civil, K. Yeah, I did scroll down to see what I could have possibly wrote to justify that. Sorry, couldn't find whatever it was that got your panties in a bunch. But, what I did find was "Of course it is ok to not be stupid and buy Kanye's music, I know". Sounds familiar? Were you not implying that people who has brought Kanye's music are stupid? Well, that's how it read; therefore, that's why I wrote that you were being an ass. So, I would refrain from calling me any name other than Mimi. As I wrote earlier in the post prior to the one where you called Kanye fans stupid, we need to agree to disagree. And with that, I'm off to the next interesting thread, because I'm done with this one. It's obvious that you have nothing left to contribute (other than pity insults), so I suggest that you do the same. Happy trails to you.....

I never compared their skills, I'm just saying he has hell of alot of skills still if he is just a "1%" of what Prince was. And the music is actually too different to compare it, other than the fact that Prince has achieved alot more both because his many years in the business, and his versatilty and genuis of playing several instruments on a very high professional level, and writing many classic hits and "underground" classics as well.
But compared to anything else that is popular right now, Kanye is SKILLED. Actually he is one of the best and most relevant acts of popular music in this decade. And there is no question about it. At the end of the day he is making music that gets top rates by almost every new paper and music magazine all over the globe, plus selling multiple million albums both to the mainstream, and actual music interrested. While this will continue for quite a while, fanboys on here that probably has achieved about nothing musically has the nerve to say that he has 0% talent. Seriously
Good job collecting fanboy points though! I once thought I was too much of a fan. And no matter how much I tried, I always came back for more. Kind of like some very addictive drugs. And yeah, when one has come to the point of being a fan of Prince musc, it's close to impossible getting out of that box. But one must atleast be having a couple of windows and breathing holes... atleast one can be able to hear something from the outside every now and then when it's driving by. And why would Kanye even want NPG on stage without Prince? Kanye is a superstar with fans mainly between roughly I'd say 16-30 years old. You think his fans care shit about the NPG? Kanye can do whatever he wants to get his money and fame. NPG doesn't give him fame. It would probably give NPG a bit more fame thiugh. Some of them might not even know Prince that much either. We don't live in the 80s anymore.
Prince is the best, but his has not seen on as a legend like Jimi was, or Michael Jackson. Like Clapton said, either you love him, or you hate him. And parents who hates him wont teach their kids to respect him. This has nothing to do with talent, but the truth. In my country you don't deserve to be more ass if you have more talent either. It's power that makes it possible for somebody to be a douche, and still get love. People worship power, not talent alone. Both these artists has gained love both from power of being famous and actual talent. My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

^- -Kanye reminds me A LOT of Mayte in the Stupid dept. -I am a consumer, that means I spend money on products, very easy to understand. -I have never bought anything or been to any Kanye concerts or music. -Why would I be stupid and pay forsomething I do NOT like? -Makes no sense, is not rational. -I don't have to 'run with' the masses because I have my own ticket and it is called: -MONEY!
