Kanye IS talented!! Sadly, his antics will continue to blind some of you to that fact. It's funny to me how, even though we're on a Prince fansite, that when Prince acts an ass, it's ok. But, you don't extend that same courtesy to other artists who've done the same. I understand some of you don't like Kanye, but I'm not understand how y'all can say he is good at what he does musically. So what he doesn't play 9 million instruments and can't sing to save his life. He is a good rapper and producer. Would this even be discussed for this long if it wasn't NPG that he "disrespected."

Stop!.... Prince's 30+ year career, his WORK ETHIC, and the fact that Prince knows how to his mouth shut! is why Prince gets a pass, so to speak. Even people who Prince has supossedly "dissed" would NEVER deny the mans work ethic, attention to detail in terms of studio production, musical talent & showmanship. This is MAINLY what Prince is known for. HUGE difference between Kanye & Prince, in all of the stories I've heard about Prince, I never heard of him HAVING A PUBLIC EMOTIONAL OUTBURST over not getting an award or not having a video recognized. And from what I'm constantly reading, PRINCE doesn't get that much of a PASS on the org. He's a racist, he's a sexist, he really hates his fans, he doesn't have "It" anymore (even though he still sells out shows), his music sucks, he sounded stupid in that interview, he was on drugs, he stole his music ideas, I mean you name it. Prince has been called everything, but a child of God on this site.

Any back to Kanye, his antics are not interesting anymore, once he shuts up, gets some maturity, and let's his music speak for itself (like he did earlier in his career), then people will know him for that instead of focusing the douche that he is currently acting like. Damn, so many people on here judge Kanyes talent on his persona. It's so abvious on most of the posts in here. Have you even recognized why Prince isn't more popular than he is capable of? People judge him based on his persona and image. After they've spent some time on that, they might also say he's overrated as a musician without even being able to tell why. What is an opinion if you can't back it up? Kanye is maybe an ass to the public eye and media is sayin he is, but he is capable of making some real hot shit. And he can makes som utter crap too. I think your point is that people unfairly judge Kanye the way people unfairly judged Prince at the height of his career. And that's fair. Kanye's popularity now resemble's Prince's 25-30 yeats ago. Sure, Kanye's made quite a bit of great "music" and his persona often overshadows that.

But when it comes to the merits of Kanye and Prince, it's not close. Kanye is a producer and an MC. He plays a few instruments, or so I've been told. But in terms of musical talent, Kanye's not even in Prince's peer group.

You can compare how they've each dealt with fame and fortune, but not their bodies of work.

I've bought most of Kanye's stuff, and I'm a hip-hop "head" as much as most anyone, but what he does and what P does are different.

I've never really 'got' Bowie personally, the songs seem too strange to me but I like 'Fame', very funky. I had a Danish friend who was a die-hard Bowie fan, he was just as puzzled why I liked Prince!
