No that wasn't an actual tribute to him. It's like the Marvin's Room covers and Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay and Gucci Crack's Stevie Wonder song.
Okay. You can tell I'm not familiar or a fan of Kanye's music I guess.
lol yeah most of his stuff post-College Graduate has been your typical hip-hop record, only difference is he chooses to have some alternative stuff latched on to it to make it look deep lol |

Prince was not there. So he told them they couldn't go on. I mean who is the NPG without Prince? Kanye didn't send his hype man in place of himself.

I'm a much bigger fan of Prince than Kanye. But no matter how incredible Prince is as a performer and musician, he is not the innovator he was back in the 80s. Now he is better at perfecting music technically, and sometimes writing good songs, but not extremely forward thinking. If you've ever taken time listening to Kanye's albums minus his annoying attitude and persona, it's quite some gems on them.
Nothing to do with Prince's vintage products but let them age.
Kanye's still bottling his, such as they are.
It's important to note that Prince reputedly dissed a lot of his "forbears" in his heyday. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I dont know what to believe. One day they are prasing Ye, the next day he is a "douche'"
IKR...one thread Prince is being praised, next thread Prince is a "douche".
We shouldn't expect Kanye to be treated any different, right?

So the NPG sans Prince was expecting to get on stage? And after being told they couldn't, they left?
That sounds like the most plausible thing that happened. IF that is what happened, what did Shelby & company expect? To be brought on stage and exchange a few "aint no party like an NPG party" chants in the middle of a Kanye concert while his audience goes EH???
Im SURE if it were Prince there the story would be different. The NPG is NOT Prince. I mean we lov'em. But c'mon son. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32 |

Where do you get that they expected to be on stage? It just says they were seated so they could watch the show and then were asked to leave. |

Lol!!! I know, right?! The NPG is just a glorified Vegas backup band and wouldn't be shit without Prince, so why bother having them on the stage if Prince wasn't going to be with them?! The NPG probably thought they were some big stars or something (please, y'all ain't The Revolution; hell, if Sheila was on this tour with y'all, he probably would've given y'all a pass, but Prince helped to fuck that one up too), but their egos got chopped down to size with this one.
Now, maybe Kanye said in his invite for ALL of them to come, but he expected Prince to be a part of that number. And when he wasn't, they weren't worth it! |

Let me add Kanye's own song, since it's appropriate.
Let's have a toast for the douchebags.
He's a self proclaimed douchebag. I'm not surprised. This is his m.o. Not the first time that he's been a jerkoff, & it won't be the last time either.
Kanye is not even a great rapper skills wise, in my opinion. He's no Nas, no Rakim, no KRS-1. He got attention for his production. This is why Jay Z didn't even want to put him on as a rapper in the beginning. It was Dame Dash who did. Kanye felt remorse for going with Jay and not staying with Dame after the breakup of the Roc. Choppy, uneven flow, better now, but still, not great. Production stays on point though. |

Kanye headlined Saturday night at this year's Big Chill (Eastnor Castle, UK). He started to rant about how he was music and how he was giving it back to the people.
Well the boos started and then turned to quite a roar. People were walking away to other tents. Apparently he wasn't happy.
The Big Chill is about good diverse music so why the hell they chose to have some rapper (read twat) headline is anybody's guess. Friday night we had the Chemical Brothers (always awesome) and on Sunday we had Rodriguez and Gabriella and Rober Plant.
Low ticket sales are being accounted to having such a poor headliner. Hopefully he'll never darken our fair Herefordshire landscape again. |

He will never be one of the best flow wise. But he is good at finding good concepts and many of his lines are very memorable imo. His lyrical ability is both good and sometimes not so good. But his best are among the most remorable. Doesn't really matter that he doesn't have the killer flow and voice as many other rappers do. His concepts and vision is far more greater than many of the best rappers out there. |

old people and purists always say stuff like that. "they don't even play instruments". Get your mind into beat making and make a beat that is better than Kanye, and I'll let you win this discussion. None of the haters of sample based beats that I know of can make a decent hip hop beat, even if they really tried to. It's just another way of making music. Bands are sampling to, they're just "covering" it. WIth basic knowledge of sampling, you can both loop one part for 4 minutes, or chop, flip and rearrange it to a completely new arrangement and feel. Kanye has both done the easy and difficult ways of sampling. Most of all his understanding of making it all fit together so nicely. It's djaying. |

I don't want to say anything cruel about Kanye, but it seems his behavior has changed tremendously and is very questionable. He recently compared himself to Hitler, and seems to try and rain on others' parade. He knew by disrespecting one of the most famous artist's crew, may get him some attention and publicity. But he may be sowing his oats a bit too much and it will backfire on him and bite him right through the crack of his ass.
Seems like he's desperately seeking attention, no matter whose feet he steps on or which hands he bites. In any event, that was rude and disrespectful for him to show his ass like that, when others from the NPG were gracious to him the night before. Prince and the NPG could have kicked his ass off stage, but they didn't.
[Edited 8/14/11 17:16pm]
You are very indeed right about what you are saying! He does seem to just want attention so much that he goes through these extreme measures, it is ridiculous! It is very disrespectful, and he has done this on more then one occasion, it is embarrassing he has to go through these mediums so often and still convey the worst about himself. They should have kicked him off, especially when he was like say "Hell YEAH..." He could have came up with another saying..lol. Nevertheless, I agree with you totally. What you said; made me laugh! Haha You are real with this, I think it will backfire on him in greater ways than it is now. He wants to feed into this victim role. What is worst is when he likes to make himself in the same mold Michael Jackson was. The media went crazy with Michael Jackson, and really went into a frenzy for nothing over him. I don't even need to elaborate on that, but the point is, he by no means is in the same situation. He creates much of the backlash himself, he does not know when to shut up, and when to rest his nuts! Haha
The crazy things Kanye does is for attention, to stay relevant and have the media report it and fans talk about it. This is his way of keeping attention on himself. Now how he treated the NPG was not right, because they could have kicked him off the stage, and said this is "Prince's show" not "Kanye's Rap and Tap dance with bonus Tantrums and Hell Yeahs Revue". I'm surprised Kanye didn't shout out the "n" word, while on stage, which is a term he seems to embrace with such honor towards his rap buddy friends, as a term of endearment towards them.
