Larry talking bad about Sly to Prince

Do you think Prince have bad opinion on Sly as a person

because of Larry?

Larry and Sly had incident with pointing guns to each other.

so i doubt Larry ever said a good thing about Sly to Prince.

NO wonder Prince never left Larry, Prince was scared to death.

Let me be quiet before Larry..oh i mean Mr. Graham comes shooting up my house.

Wow, a 'gun-fight'! Well, there was no 'pistol-whipping' so that is good!

-I think Prince respects each one of them even if they don't get along with each other.

It happends like that sometimes. A mutual friend always gets caught up in the middle, the best thing is to STAY NEUTRAL.

-I don't think I could though, I would have choose a side.popcorn

I for one can believe this. I can just imagen the chain reaction it must of set off when it happend.

I wonder who put the gun down first? If it was me, I would still have my hand on the trigger.popcorn

If larry is intimating people with guns then of course he's talking wreckless about sly.

The man had a ghetto mexican standoff with SLY. Do you really think larry is scared to talk wreckless about someone behind their back...

Ghetto mexican?lol They must be the worst kind.popcorn

-But they both black though?

-I can picture a MJ Beat-It video stand off better. Larry in the white suit and Sly in the jean outfit. Their hands tied together and guns pointing at their temples now that is what I call a gun fight.popcorn

A ghetto mexican standoff is a like a mexican standoff but ghetto-y-er.

" Mexican standoff is a slang term defined as a stalemate or impasse; a confrontation that neither side can foreseeably win." Wiki Quote

And stop eating popcorn in every post. you're get popcorn all over my feet and your ass is not cleaning up after yourself. lol

lol Sorry about the popcorn (rubs fingers together, salt and butter everywhere), I'll vaccum before I leave. Popcorn smells good.

-So this slang term is awesome, i need to use it in a conversation one day.

-I think it might of been some sort of Civil War or something. Both of the same group, getting guns pulled out and I just wonder over what? Money no doubt.

-I still think Prince respects them both even though they might not get along. It feels like Prince has a deep bond with them both.

If Prince has a low opinion of Sly Stone I suspect that it derives primarily from Sly having a well documented drug problem.

The guns thing was when both Sly and Larry were using. I think Larry converted to the JW's sometime in the '80s or something.

Larry was a JW prior to him leaving the band (though it was recent).

Where is the evidence that Prince has a low opinion of Sly? Did they ever meet?
That Larry/Sly Riot was going on 40 years ago and Sly surrounded himself with real life gangsters back then. Say whatever you want about Larry but at least he got over that. Don't know if Sly ever did... fro uzi pimp2 grandpa

I see you've been reading "For The Record" hmmm

Both(Sly & Larry) were guilty of their shortcomings, drugs fucked up what could've been the greatest band around, I don't think Larry would be foolish enough to talk smack about Sly given that both of them were on a different state of mind then.

Hell, not with all the Sly Stone odes from Prince' camp, and I still believe that "The Everlasting Now" is about Sly.

But if Prince have a bad opinion about Sly or anybody else, I don't think it will matter given that he's not the moral majority's spokesman.

Larry and Sly were no angels back in those days. But Larry changed his life around and got himself together. Can't say the same for Sly. As much as I love him I think (he thinks) he's still living in 1975.

Most musicians will talk bad about people that they've worked with if the experience wasn't cool. I'm sure P has done it a couple of times too.

Pretty sure Larry took part in the Family Stone reunion at the Grammy's. Everone knows Sly is a drug casualty, and still battling demons. Trudging up a story about Larry and Sly drugged up is silly.

There is a story that Prince tried to get Sly to record at Paisley Park when Sly was still "missing". Eitehr way, Prince does a Sly tribute as part of his regular show, so what does that say?

I think they both understand Sly had issues that have gone on for a long time, and prob. hope the best for him.

Whatever incidents happened almost 40 years are kind of irrelevant today. Larry's said mostly good things about his time in Sly and the Family Stone.
