Long time admirer, I have a question about Purple Rain movie and the 'what if'.

The movie is about an artist who is 'strugglein', whose sole purpose is to create.

The one person in the whole movie who has the most money is the 'Billy Sparks' guy.

He is male, hence, not 'in love' with the protagonist's.

-What if that role was given to a woman?

I think it would of made a huge difference because it could of segued to the other movies, Under the Cherry Moon, etc. and so on till, right now.

_Prince could of made a whole collection of Purple Rain. His sole name branded collection.

-Purple rain is an emotional movie to watch.

There should of been a Prince vanity-movie deal with WB for the hardcore fans. Like more softporn and stuff. It would of put H. Hefner out of business!

She could of been cast as a 'Betty Paige' type of character.

It would of been great.

Purple Rain was good but there should have been more of a backstory about his parents dysfuntional relationship and why there was such a rivalry between the Revolution and The Time. There should have been more character development all around.

You see, what's missing is:

- Why did Francis L quit making music really? Maybe he had a drug problem that we don't know about or maybe his old lady got preggo and he had to get a real job

- Why would Morris have beef with The Kid when their music and styles were totally different? Rock vs. Funk. You never saw the band members beefing with each other, e.g. Wendy never went upside Jerome's head with a bottle of vodka.

- What was the real deal with The Kid and Jill? Did he bone her and never call her back? Why didn't Morris hit that? Maybe he did and that's how he got Appollonia's number and address.

- How were Brenda and Susan getting paid? Were they working for free?

- Why was Jerome just a side-kick? What self-respecting man would shine another man's shoes?

You wouldn't need a PR II, III etc if the first one was done completely right.

More than one movie would be needed because it would of been a combination of soap opera, reality musicians, Lifestyle, etc.

-Prince has been around so long, he is the king of the 80's.

-I sometimes think about the Vanity split out the movie. Maybe instead she should of been given Jill Jones' role and Jill Jones would of played a female 'Billy Sparks'.

-Purple Rain is a dramatic movie.
