I'm a fan of both so to me this question is incredibly unfair . "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

I'll take Prince over any artist. So he's my choice.

George is one of my all time favs too, which is why I did this.

You're so wrong for this. *giggling* "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

Hell no, I am so right for this. The reason George is never mentioned around these parts is because he's too threatening, and all us orgers know it. We just don't wanna bow down to the Prince of Pop.

I LOVE George Michael BUT to compare him to Prince is utterly ridiculous! No comparison whatsoever! Prince leaves him in the dust even if his last album had been Purple Rain!!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That may be the opinion of most orgers, but George is a talented guy. Very underrated.

I have a better idea:
Faith vs Purple Rain Listen Without Prejudice vs Sign O The Times Older vs Emancipation Songs vs 1999 Patience V Gold
Why did you pick lesser Prince albums?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It's only fair to go by year. I wasn't picking lesser Prince albums. I was going according to year. The original still stands.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don't agree that it's fair to go year by year. You should put his 5 best against Prince's 5 best. How about putting Wham records up against Prince at his peak ? [Edited 8/9/11 20:33pm]

Nah. It's Prince's fault he released mediocre albums those years.

I don't agree at all. Prince's best blow GM's best out of the water. Further, I don't know how old you are but I was 16/17 around the time Faith came out and it was clear to me and my friends and some reviewers that George copped a lot from P on that record. That synth line in I Want Your Sex is straight out P's 1982 -84 sound book. ANd Faith is just Kiss without the gate effect on the guitar. My BS detector went off hard after that and I walked away from GM for a long time. I didn't get to appreciate him until I got much older. I'll give him this; He's a decent bass player and pretty good on the keys. Some of LWP is amazing and those Wham songs are classic 80's pop . But to compare with Prince ? No. [Edited 8/9/11 20:42pm] [Edited 8/9/11 20:44pm] [Edited 8/9/11 20:45pm]

Which came first , music or the ear for it?

I said, no stan posts. | |

What are stans? If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

Who: Cares? | |

Based on the central character in the Eminem song of the same name, a "stan" is an overzealous maniacal fan for any celebrity or athlete.

I love both so I ain't gonna choose.

Some of us drank from the same Kool-Aid pitcher, I'm a fan of both.
Better musician- P Better singer- GM
that is all. Jeux Sans Frontiers
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I can agree with that. I think GM may be better at writing pop songs, too.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to use the word blow in a sentence that mentions Prince AND George Michael!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Dont agree. P is a more soulfull singer and has more range. Okay maybe GMs voice colour u can like more, but thats personal. P can also write better pop songs if he wants to. Just compare both their biggest hits (pop songs). Careless whisper vs PR, Faith vs Kiss etc.

It's like comparing Prince with Michael: I find it meaningless. How can you compare the work of someone who's released more than 60 albums with the work of someone who's released 10 or so. It's just impossible.
As for your album vs album thing, which is kinda cool, IDK as I'm only familiar with Faith, in which case i'd vote for Sign "O" The Times. Faith is really a great album, but SOTT is much deeper and musically far more challenging. I like both and have seen George live too, in fact I liked GM's music long before I was ever in to Prine. Yes he's talented but for me, Prince wins in every way. RIP

Who is "best"? PRINCE is, that's easy.....
... just ask Rolling Stone,
Prince is usually on those lists they make, the 50 immortal artists etc....
George Michael is not there.
(I think Rolling Stone is credible here, don't you?!)...
Prince 4Ever. | |
