Under the Cherry Moon I think that time has made this film more watchable. Filming it in black and white seems to have paid off now, although I wished it was in colour 1986. The story is also quite cute now, despite seeming embarrassing on release. Anyone got an opinion? 2xMaybe3

Cloud- U could probably pick them up from ebay...
Anyway, I really liked under the cherry moon jus' that considerin the time period it was set in it was reallly wrong... now I'm dumb and gullable so it may have been done on purpose but... oh nevermind JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

I think most major video rental places still carry that movie...
Anyways my favorite part is when they're all in the restaurant and Christopher was teasing Mary "read it aloud so we can all hear how knowledgable you are"...& "if you wanted to buy a Sam Cooke abbum(said without the L)where would you go"... That movie is classic!!!

My favorite scene is when Christopher and Mary see each other for the first time right after Mary played the drums at her party and Christopher giving her that look... "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I loved that movie as a kid, but I kinda grew out of that. Seeing it more recenlty I realized that for the beginning of the movie when it stays light and fun, it's actually enjoyable. But when it starts getting dark and sad near the end it just falls apart.

I hated this movie when I first saw it. Of course I was a huge Purple Rain fan and it was not what I expected at all. I was sooo upset The only part of the movie I liked was when Mary reads the poem Honest Man.
But, I actually love that movie now. My favorite scene is at the restaraunt with the bats If U set your mind free, baby, maybe U'd understand...

Over time this has actually become my favorite Prince movie. I still think Purple Rain was the best in terms of raw energy, passion, capturing the audience and really conveying the essence of the '80s, but just in my personal opinion, I like UTCM just a little bit more overall, because of so many things, the black & white, the campy dialogue, the WARDROBE, sure the characters are snotty and the plot is virtually nil, but I love this flick. On the topic of best lines in the movie, here are a few of my faves, off the top of my head:
"Who needs money when you have youth?" "Who needs youth when you have money?" "We have Porsche we have cable, how bout it baby?" "Fascist!" "Stroke it a couple times for me cuzzin!" "Wrecka Stow." "- - LOUDER?!" "I ain't afraid of shit / You afraid of bats?" "Pizza man!" "You did it to Mary's MOM!" "I am my OWN man, just like Liberace!" There are many more I just wish I could recall offhand. Bottom line, if you have never seen this movie you really should go get it. Whether the movie is "good" or not is a matter of opinion, but I still think the Parade era music and wardrobe is some of the best of Prince at his Princeliest. Worth seeing if for no other reason than to fill the gap in your knowledge of the Prince timeline ¶ēą¢ė, Måĉ

These days,I'd rather watch this & GB over Purple Rain, which depresses the hell out of me. I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

PS: With the exception of about 2 or 3 scenes featuring Morris Day, "Graffiti Bridge" is almost totally unwatchable. What an abortion of a movie. It makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out to watch Prince reduce himself to this halfass attempt at "Purple Rain 2", it was about as good as "Caffiene Free Diet New Coke". If anything should have gone straight out of the camera and into the vault never to be heard from again this movie was it. Sadly, it was released and widely promoted, while things like "roadhouse garden" went straight into lockdown. Oh well, anyway, if you get to rent 2 for 1 then pick it up but best be sedated when you pop this one in. If you actually have to pay to rent it, just pass ¶ēą¢ė, Måĉ

Dont get me wrong, I LOVED (most of) the soundtrack!! And yes there were a couple of scenes worth watching, and Ingrid but seriously, the movie itself?? Someone needs to be bitch slapped for this thing ever getting out of that fake-ass sound stage where it was shot. Morris daring his crew to eat the peppers = George Clinton = most of the music = but come on, "The Kid" riding his bike across a fakeass sound stage? = the serious attempt to carry this forward as an extension of the plot from Purple Rain?? = and really, the RAPS?? = This movie sucks ass just my 2 cents but there it is [This message was edited Sat Feb 15 13:54:51 PST 2003 by Mac] ¶ēą¢ė, Måĉ
