If we could choose the tracklisting of Prince's albums

I mentioned the Kaiser Cheifs latest album launch/marketing idea in the 'We want a new Prince album' thread the other day and thought I'd post it here as well.

http://www.nme.com/news/k...iefs/57057

You go to their website, choose your favourite 10 tracks from 20 available, choose the order of the tracklist, choose your custom art and download for £7.50. Plus, you get a link that you can share in order to promote your version of the album and in doing so, earn revenue from every sale. I think this is genius. Plus, if you're chosing your favourite tracks, you're less likely to rant about the tracks that you discarded.

Now, I know that Prince is unlikely to follow suit, him being a control freak and all, but thought it worthy of discussion anyway.

So... as an experiment, if you take all the available tracks from MPLSound & 20ten (plus promo's from around the time), what would your 10 track album be? I picked these two albums because they're both similar thematically, and whilst they both have a few redeeming tracks, they're not exactly universally loved.

Out of the 20+ tracks available, would you have been able to sequence 10 tracks that you'd have been happy with?

Here's the options:

(There'll Never B) Another Like Me

Chocolate Box

Dance 4 Me"

U're Gonna C Me

Here

Valentina

Better with Time

Ol' Skool Company

No More Candy 4 U

Compassion

Beginning Endlessly

Future Soul Song

Sticky Like Glue

Act of God

Lavaux

Walk in Sand

Sea of Everything

Everybody Loves Me

Laydown

Cause & Effect

Hot Summer

Rich friends

Purple & Gold barf

Good luck wink

I know. lol

It's difficult for me too, but I thought it better to use his current output for choice as that's more likely the sort of thing we'd get to choose from it this were to ever happen.

Now if it were 20 unreleased tracks from 1986... drool but that's a different thread. Maybe later!

Go on then, what's your EP?

...Then there's the majority of the folks who'll probably just wait until all the tracks are on places like Frostwire and then just download em all for free....

How's that different to any other release by any other artist?

Why would a collection of previously released tracks be his next album question

Exactly lol .

That whole idea in the first post is basically a gimmick to try and encourage people to NOT steal music and I'm saying that it won't work.

thanks for sharing your opinions. You either buy into the idea or you don't, that's the point. Let's just suppose for a second that you did, rather than steal the music via an illegal download. What would your tracklisting be?
