Prince never liked his electronic sound?

Prince was always organic artist in his nature.

He did great electronic music but i feel it had to do with

what was big at the moment.Everybody started using Linn and synths in the early 80's.

It was the sound that was hip and trendy and songs with those

elements were big hit on charts.

Human League had big number 1 hit Don't you Want me in 1981

Yazoo also,Queen-I Want To Break Free(linn drum) and many others.

Prince created original sound ,some people even

calling him the Hendrix of Linn Drum

but he did it for only 3 or 4 years and started incorporating more organic sound

after Purple Rain.

Many Synth Pop and Electro musicians mention Prince when they are asked

about influences ,yet Prince lost touch with that kind of scene.

...Are you sure you aren't projecting your own personal tastes, onto him?

For all you know, he went Linn-drum crazy in the 80s because he genuinely loved the sound.

Even if he didn't, I love the sound so I think his 80s stuff is rad. lol

Very few LM-1s were created. Something like 500. They were also CRAZY expensive. Hell, they were $5,000 in 1980s money. That's a lot more now. There were something like 5,000 LinnDrums made, but they were expensive, too. Prince started using the Linn stuff partly because it was the future and partly because he was always in a hurry. He liked to work fast in the studio, (and he still does) so a drum machine helped him considerably. Also, he liked to imagine he was using a "computer" to make his music. I think a healthy Gary Numan influence was obvious, too. Prince wanted the new sound and if it happened to make the recording process faster then super-win.

I believe you are projecting your own tastes onto Prince. He does whatever is fastest and easiest with the least amount of effort and still get the job done.

I don't! I always liked Prince in spite of the drum machines not because of them. I grew up in the 1980s but don't feel any nostalgia for those days.

I really don't buy the whole "it makes recording faster so yeah!" shtick. Prince was using real drums both before and after his usage of the Linn. It wasn't a gradual process, it was there and then not there.

I think what the OP is saying is correct and that you both touched on the same topic. See bolded. That is the OP's point. People are not understanding that and suggesting he is "projecting" when he isn't.
