It's because you have to purchase the album as a whole

You cant just purchase individual singles from the GB album on itunes.

I wanted another version of Elephants and Flowers for my ipod and i had to purchase the whole god damn album just to get it. mad

Ole well lol

Prince's greatest hits cd's always sell consistently well, so that is no surprise to me. But Graffiti Bridge is a surprise. But the cd goes all over the place in music from gospal to funk to jazz to pop to RnB. So U get all of Prince plus a lil Morris & a young soulful Tevin.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Do people pay you for your work?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Thats really surprising. I got Graffiti Bridge in amazing condition for $3.00 (Including shipping) on the used section on Amazon. People need to realize that getting CDs on amazon are much cheaper than on iTunes.

On a side note.

It don't. If I still used iTunes and the cards I used to buy without having to actually pay, I'd buy from there too. And I still go to stores to buy music. razz So no surprise. My surprise is Prince is even on iTunes like that but it's all good. nod

Casuals don't want to do that kind of work! They want to be TOLD what's good! A best of will do that just fine, don't wake them up, they enjoy their long sleep.

artists get paid a pretty small % of record sales, id rather pay to see a concert instead

That's not really what you said is it. Buying a concert ticket is still paying for music.

But artists choose that road. They weren't forced to sign a record contract. If you're against that system, you should also be against those artists within the system. But you really don't care, and you argue like this just to hide your selfishness.

Yeah I've never bought anything from ITunes...so much easier to download from usenet or BT or many other places. But people pay for the convenience and to make up for their lack of tech savvy, i guess.

Also Prince's greatest hits cd's skyrocketed up the charts, after his mega best #1 per4mance of the 2007 Superbowl halftime show. I think that is what really woke Prince up, to start catering to his casual fans. He started playing his older hits more consistently live. Meanwhile ranking in mega royalty profits from his old catalog.

Exactly!! No matter how he claims that he didn't want Ultimate and Greatest Hits released, I'm sure that his royalities from those projects are pretty good.
