Should Prince do like Tom Jones? Just saw an interview with Tom Jones. He decided to stop with the black hair dye and embrace his age and white hair. He also is releasing a more mature, serious album with a some bluesy flavor and spiritual overtones. It was really cool. Man...I wish P would drop glam and glitter and get real. Anyone agree or am i just being stupid?

Well, Tom is 71...(and incidentally born June 7) ...I think Prince has a few more years left in him to be "pretty" without looking like a caricature of himself. If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

IMO, Prince still looks great with black hair (but I agree Tom Jones made a good decision hairwise) [Edited 8/9/11 7:53am]

I don't think you're being stupid but, Prince is very vain and I don't think he has a full head of hair that is all grey / white but, I don't think he'll ever allow his hair to go grey. Before John L. passed (his dad) the photos of him showed his hair being dark (black or brown). I don't think him (Prince) would ever drop the 'glam and glitter' remember how he said: putting on something another wouldn't dare. That's him daring to be different. Daring to go against the grain. Hell ... Larry Graham still wears thoz pimp'd out white suits with the zoot-suit style hats. It's just part of who they are, wardrobe wise.
Musically speaking, I don't expect P to change from what he's doing in concert. If we get another album, I hope it will be in the same vein as say ... LoTUSFLOW3R, I thought that was a great 'aura' or 'feel' he brought with that. Old School Soul music. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Tom Jones hasn't done anything worth mentioning since the 1970's (artistically speaking). So no. When I get to that age-get the hair dye out-cause that grey is going to be gone. God willing that I have hair! 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Not everyone who is 53 has a full head of gray hair. It is called middle age, not old age. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Prince IS glam. That's him. I like it. A lot. I don't want 2 see him in jeans, regular clothes. I can see that at the mall. I want the hair, make up, hats, heels, glitz and glam. All of it.

Yeah.
He's starting to look like Amy Lepore now, and he hasn't even had plastic surgery! (at least I don't think he has)

What people fail to realise is that Tom Jones now wears a wig. He didnt simply stop dying his hair. He replaced what hair he had left with a white hair piece. People naturally assume and focus on the change of colour whilst failing to notice that his hair hasn't been that thick for 20 years. Its a classic celebrity move! You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

I wouldn't call coloring your hair daring to be different. I think growing old gracefully would be the only way Prince could be different from what HE'S done in the past and what EVERY other entertainer/"artist" does. Prince and Larry Graham are doing NOTHING different. The way they act is the norm for entertainment industry types. Just FYI

Mmm .... I wasn't saying coloring his hair daring to be different. You singled that out, becuz I followed it up with "I don't think he (Prince) would ever drop the 'glam and glitter' remember how he said: putting on something another wouldn't dare. That's him daring to be different. Daring to go against the grain".
Musically speaking with regard to his performing is C.O.O.L for me. I prefer the after-shows not the arena shows. We all know the after-show is where you wanna be. I've heard the so called 'Hit's more times then I can count (and I'll still go when he comes to my state or city). Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
