Football (soccer) Fans

The new season has just got underway here in the UK and I realise that the next week or two will be stressful, two passions in crash course...

Anyway, I read recently that Prince is trying to develope an interest in the beautiful game, probably womens football, but it put me thinking, what club or clubs would we recommend him to support?

I personally would go for Liverpool FC...followed by FC Barcelona

PS If he decides to become a Man Utd fan...I will personally tell him he has sold out to the devil itself

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Fulham, obviously. Everybody's favourite Thames-side club. Perhaps Fayed will put a statue to him at the Hammersmith End to balance the MJ one at the Putney... Perhaps then a Madonna on the halfway line and a Duran Duran, Wham, Bruce Springsteen and Kajagoogoo statues at each corner. A crazy Tussaud's managerie of poparama... with football going on somewhere in the centre of it all.

Lovely.

Lovely.

My first Premiership was actually at Fulham last season (unforunately hammersmith end, being a pool fan), Pool 5-2 job, but there was a certain irony about the MJ statue, I have some pics of that, but they are shite quality...

PS I would have the Prince statue in the centre circle... wink

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

To Whitnail: Great choice, I support Liverpool too and have always done. Speaking of the new season, is anyone doing the Fantasy League?

The image of Prince on the Kop on someones shoulders is quality:-D

I dont think he'd have liked the old standing Kop tho with people pissing in his pocket. I reckon he could do a good acoustic version of 'poor scouser tommy'

Derby County....was great a few decades ago, went down hill, got good in 2007, hit rock bottom since with money being more important than output ...he'll be able to relate to that

No way wee jimmy! You've totally freaked me out by the way!! Only last night I pictured how handsome prince wud look in a green & white hooped Celtic shirt!

It wud of course have to be no.7 wi Nelson written on the back!

But another weird thing, as we r on the topic of Celtic, guess who I met in Gibney's pub after the Malahide gig? U guessed it, Celtic manager Neil Lennon!

He was a complete gentleman, told him how much my mother loves him & got a lovely photo with him!

Spooky dooky!

I hear Exeter City are looking for a new pop icon.

Perosnally, Prince I'd like to see Prince at Cambridge Town. But failing that, he really needs to get behind Spurs as they have a purple away kit.

Just as long as he doesn't join the glory chasing fans at Man U / Chelsea / Liverpool.

By the way, who is up for an Org Fantasy Football league? If there are enough, I'll set one up.

Yeah, someone set up a league - I do the fantasy prem official one every year...and I'm fucking shite at it!! I think your all wrong - Prince would slum it in the Chumpionship for a start, Derby isn't a bad shout, but Lily Savage, maybe a bit too much of a poser. He'd go for the unfashionable, the strange - the slightly weird and off kilter.

Obviously I'm biased, but I reckon the Boro is probably a similar shithole to MPLS, unfashionable or desirable...I can just seeing him mechanically clapping to Pigbag while wolfing down a parmo before singing much louder how he hates the makems and the geordies than how he loves the boro. In the seventies he even had a boro tache for fucks sake.

Just registering on FPL, if I don't see on here that someone's started a league will try and do one myself innit. If someone else does post the codes in here.

UP THE BORO (WE ALL HATE LEEDS SCUM)

Hey, so i created one - stuck for inspiration so its called New Power Goal, it's a classic league, the code to enter to join is;

1251158-284603

I would say let my know if you have any problems let me know, apart from I wouldn't have a fucking clue how to sort it. Have a go innit. Or not...

Up The Boro!!!!!!!!!!!
