Prince is not that old.

I would respectfully like to know why people are acting like Prince is going to die any second now. I've been seeing quite a few posts on here about Prince "getting up there in age" and "gonna die soon, so get your tickets quick".

He's 53, not 103. And yeah, I know his knees (or whatever it is) are bad and he's getting wrinkles, but he still gives us all a great show that's hard to beat in this day and age. [Thank goodness he's not into Botox] Heck, Quincy Jones was around his age when he was doing Thriller with MJ and he had had an aneurysm and two brain surgeries almost a decade prior.

Am I the only one who doesn't think P has one foot in the grave?

I dont think he has a foot in the grave, I think alot of us are very afraid that something will happen him, there would be a massive void in alot of our lives if Prince was not there to bring out the catharsis in most of us...naturally this is a paranoia brought on by the passing away of MJ and Amy Winehouse

It hits home sometimes... wink

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I'd like to think that the wee baw bag has a good few years in him yet, I can't see him stopping making music for a while. But what some deluded fams need to realize is that he is this thing called human and not some higher being who does not eat, sleep, shit, piss or fart....in other words, he could go at any minute just like any one of us, it's called life.

I get it. It just seems to me that Prince takes better care of himself than Amy did and he doesn't have Lupus like MJ had. He's growing older, but he's not your typical pill-popping, risk-taking, extrovert musician. Even in his youth, his craziness was pretty much limited to being horny. If you take away the flashy clothes, extreme horniness, and drama that was almost always started by other people, he's always been a pretty low-key dude.

I think he's going to live as long as he wants to.

Besides, how many are us who were born in late 50's or early 60's? I don't keep my bad knee in the grave - I keep dancing. Obviously Prince is doing the same. cool Forget the extreme horniness.lol lol lol

Prince has 20 good years and 20 good (surely not great) albums left in him,

before he dies.

He is still vital...... giving those amazing concerts like noone else can.

Also, his parents lived long lives. Maybe his brother's passing & reasons for that made him look at his own mortality and health, even if he is in perfect shape.

It's possible he might have hip or knee problems from all the dancing over the years, or tore something that he hasn't gotten around to having fixed.

Springsteen's into his 60s, Mick Jagger and McCartney are close to 70. The 2 guys in KISS are around 60. Cher's 65.

Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis are well into their 70s, still performing. Tina turned 70 not that long ago. Even Chuck Berry, who's in his mid 80s, gets out and does shows. BB King's 85 and still hits the road.

Les Paul was in his 90s playing at the clubs right up to the end, and he still played well.

They did a 90th birthday concert for folkie Pete Seeger, and he played the Newport Folk Festival last weekend. Ravi Shankar still plays live shows with his daughter.. he's coming up on 90. Country musician Earl Scruggs still hits the Opry every now and then at 86, and they also mentioned Tony Bennett turning 85 a few days ago.

Fact: Prince wasn't even born when most, if not all of them were playing music professionally. Most of these guys were in their 20s and 30s playing music when he was born.

He's older than Obama by a few years, and he's considered a "young" president.

There's a lot of entertainers out there with drug and alcohol problems, and prob. as many who don't. The media only focuses on the ones with problems.

Bob Dylan celebrated his 70th birthday this year. He's been playing 100 showsva year EVERY year since 1988. Around the globe. And still writes excellent songs. Age has got nothing ro do with it. headbang thumbs up! worship guitar

I'm just speaking for myself here and not for other loony fans who may think he'll die any moment now, but I think Prince is in his last 10 years of performing live though. Prince may take good care of himself and (probably) is far from dead, he does age and he won't always be able to dance as good as he does now. Prince has always struck me as a real perfectionist who wants to be the absolute best everytime he goes on stage and I think he may not want to do live shows anymore if he's no longer able to dance. You have a nice list of artist that still do live shows at 60-70+, but all of them have never really been dancers and Prince always relied on his own dancing at live shows (I can't think of a tour where he didn't dance, but please correct me if there is one). It's one of the things he'll just lose over time, no one can help that. I think Prince will be less confident about his own show if it's "just" him on guitar playing and singing songs, and I think that's when Prince's perfectionism will get in the way of him getting on stage again. I (and with me many others I guess) would still love to see him just playing his music without the dancing, but I'm not sure if Prince is aware of that.

I know it's all just me speculating, but it did make me decide to see as much shows as possible now that I still can.

I'm confident Prince will make music till the day he dies though, even if we don't hear one song of that. It's just the live shows I've personally been worrying about.

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

Check out Montreux 2009. On the stage: no dancing, just the guitar, the voice+ amazing mucians.

Prince doesn't need need any dancing to captivate his audience and be a perfect performer. And he knows it.

I feel that if the dancing part was so fundamental for him, he wouldn't have performed in Montreux the way he did.

In the end, he is music. wink

The place of music is in front of an audience... So why would he ever stop, if his health allows him to express who he is meant to be?

I certainly don't think he has one foot in the grave. But, with each passing year, he's getting further and further from his prime. If you like Prince but you didn't get to see him perform in 1987, why keep telling yourself, "Oh, maybe I'll see him next time he comes to town"? If you can spend a little extra to see him NOW -- before he gets even further from his prime -- then DO.

Hell, I love saying that I saw him at the House of Blues in LA in 2011, but I wish I could say I saw him writhing on the floor at a Purple Rain afterparty.
