Prince Fans: Are We Spoiled? I can't recall any other artist releasing music like Prince has/does. Since '78, Prince has giving us a new album virtually every year [even multiple albums in some years: double/triple albums & produced albums for others, bootlegs etc]. 99.9999% of all artist today will never reach even 6 albums in their careers, let alone albums that anyone will even care about. No one will be as legendary as Prince either [for the quality output of music he's pumped out over the decades]. So, I tend to think we're all kinda spoiled by the fact that we have SO much music from one of our favorite artist. I often think if Prince only released a fraction of the albums he has released, we'd feel different. I feel that ultimately, some of us tend to complain a little too much [myself included], if Prince went the MJ route & only had 10 albums, we'd cherish the music a little more.....imho.
So, what are your thoughts? Are we spoiled? الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

yes we are spoilt, but what's annoying is we know there stuff in the vault (some some of us have some of it) and it's rotting in there when it could be earning Prince some money which we all know he loves. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

Yep! Those B-Sides from the 80's are a big spoiler.

Considering that the US midwest has gotten bupkus since 2009, "spoiled" isn't the word I'd use. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Considering that untill last year Prince hadn't done a decent European tour since 2002 I would say he had some catching up to do.
As for albums, we are pretty spoiled I guess, particularly when you compare his output to most other artists. However, we all know how much he likes to spoil and tease us with it and how much more he has locked up.

100% yes because the 'products' just keep flowing. Imagine being a George Michael fan. Forget your thoughts on the quality vs quantity debate the point with P is that there never is a dull moment and there's always a new project around the corner.

Prince fans throw huge tantrums like spoiled-ass brats whose daddy won't let them get any candy at the grocery store, so I'd say yes.
Prince : No more candy 4 u!
Fans : WAHHHHH!!!! *rips off shitty diaper and runs down the aisle screaming and crying* "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

We are completely spoiled. We've gotten used to one or more albums per year, not to mention the related artists, b-sides, singles, videos, various live performances... and then there are the bootlegs. How many do each of us have? Prince's net worth would be more than $500 mil if he got sales from every cd, dvd, or download we have. Think about your friends' music collection. How many of them have over a hundred cd's or dvd's from one artist? I won't even show my wife my entire collection. She thinks I'm nuts as it is ! There are a few artists who can rival Prince in the respect of records made (released or unreleased) and live shows. Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis. But two of those are dead and Dylan usually hides behind his keyboard when he plays. So yeah, we're spoiled!

Spoiled beyond repair.

Hell yes we are spoiled. A whole decade of great albums, singles, b-sides, unreleased tracks, video, and tours. A meh and somewhat boring 90's and a mediocre 00's that has a few good songs and possibly one great album. Even though the quality of the music has dropped significantly ever since the 80's, we are lucky to have so much material.

No offense, but why are you still listening to an artist whom you think hasn't put out any substantial music since the 1980's? I obviously don't agree with your opinion, but I would never be on a fansite of George Michael or GunsNRoses or Aerosmith - or a boatload of other bands whom I think haven't done jack squat in 20 years. Like any artist he's had his share of great albums and some good albums - in every decade. But this is all subjective. There are fans of '3121' who don't like 'SOTT', and fans of 'Diamonds and Pearls' who don't like 'Purple Rain'. But to be debating how "spoiled we are"... I find that pretty funny. Spoiled with what? Subpar music? That's like going to the same restaurant for thirty years: The food sucks now, but it's great they give you so much more of it. And to be sure, I've seen him on almost every tour since 1988. Lovesexy was like nothing else I'd ever seen, but the mid-90's Gold Exp album and concerts at Paisley were even more incredible. The Musicology Tour was fantastic even though I felt the cd wasn't for me. Then, I saw him in 2009 at Paisley and the show was outstanding. Not to mention Lotusflower is one of my all-time favorite albums. His sound has evolved. You could say Prince has grown up and so has his music. Maybe not as exciting as Purple Rain, or as sexy as the 1999 Tour - but more mature, more diverse, with an open mind, and without a doubt in my head: a better musician now than back in his "hey day". To put it another way, if radio stations across the country and MTV and VH1 started playing his lesser known gems or showed his live concerts on a regular basis, he would be considered one of the greatest to ever live by any standards. But they don't, maybe it's because he's black. Maybe because he's been too controversial. Who knows. But to the masses if you're not being played on a regular basis or if you don't have a hit song, you're not as good as you "used to be". I just don't buy into that. I don't think you do either. hell ya, to the point where I get fed up of all the bitching and just really don't follow much on this site. If any other star has more ungrateful, nagging, needy fans than Prince you'll have to show me. Criticism is ok, not being a sycophant is wonderful but just sitting around waiting for the man to do something so you can rip it apart is fucked. Makes no sense. It's ok though, I learned a long time ago that you/me/prince/anyone can never really make anyone happy, people always want more more more no matter what. Ya ungrateful bunch of parasites.

Verrrrrry spoiled. I admit it.
And yet, I sure do wish he'd open up The Vault and also give access to old concerts.

Awww, he hasn't played Houston since 2004 (except for backing up Tamar in 2006).
He hasn't even played TEXAS since then. That Super Bowl thing was a fiasco.

As for myself I'm still appreciative that Prince does release new music when he's not obligated contractually to do so any longer. So I don't consider my self spoiled. Now if you're taling about the bulk of posters on the ORG then yeah it's evident. The most spoiled, bratty, self absorbed, overly entitled, hyper critical, uber demanding pack of fans I've ever seen. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

what? you talking shit you baldheaded brit. you leave, this is not the prince shitalking site, it's suppossed to be for fans. You big baby, so what Prince doesn't do what you want him to do, well he's a grown man, he can do whatever the fuck he wants you don't own him bitch. I don't understand how you can show proper respect to a relatively unproved talent like Amy winehouse yet you are one of the jackasses who nitpicks prince to death. What If i told you Amy Winehouse wasn't much of a musican or that she copied Lauryn Hill, would you like or agree with that? No, you don't have too, but Prince has accomplished more than 99.9 percent of pop musicians and none of us has much to complain about, his genius and best work is there already, if you don't like his new stuff don't buy it, don't come here crying about it wahh wahh you baldhead freak. Get a life.

Prince fans are very spoiled. They think that waiting 2 years for an album is a long time

It's ok. It used to get under my skin too(and still does once in a while), but some people like to hear themselves complain, I guess.
It's ok to be skeptical, and maybe a little naive to be hopeful. But being cynical is just plain lazy and negative, and does nothing for anyone. This applies to all aspects of life, not just music. (I think that's my new mantra. )
