OK so who in this place has ACTUALLY MET Prince?? I am curious to hear your accounts of having actually MET the lil man himself. I know there are at least a few of you in this place who have met him, even if only at a show you got a few seconds of direct interaction with him, yes that counts, seeing him up there from back in the nosebleed section, no that doesn't count OK? But there are a few of you in here who have had the chance to really spend a good chunk of time in his company. Who here has had FIRST-HAND interactions with Prince? I want to hear your story. For the record, although I've seen him live more than once, I have not yet had the opportunity to meet him directly, although I have a close friend who has not only met him but got to basically spend a weekend with him and his entourage last time they played here. I got to do the same with Morris and the Time, which rocked! Come to think of it, let's ask not only about Prince, but any related artists too, that should give more peeps a chance to get in on the fun. So who have you met, how did the opportunity arise, and how did it go? Tell the forum your tale! ¶ēą¢ė, Måĉ

My mum served him when she worked in the restaurant in Harrods. He gave her a £50 tip!
I had a chance to meet him once during the Lovesexy tour. Was talking to Levi and he asked if I wanted to meet him and I said no, too scared I'd say something stupid or be dissapointed after speaking to him. DOH!!!

I met the man once last October... well, 'met' is maybe the wrong word.
It was at the first London show, October 3rd... I was just walking in with some people when this guy points to the left - and there he is, Prince, sitting and chatting to some fans. The reason he was down there was the whole ticket seat/ general admission problem, and he wanted to hear what the NPGMC members had to say. So he's sitting there, right in front of me, and I go 'Excuse me sir, I think you're on my seat'. He jumps up and laughs... That was my brief but unforgettable encounter with Prince... "How embarrasing to be human!"

Dunno about "meeting" P. but I was at an aftershow at the Forum , London ( After the Wembley Stadium gig ).I was down the front and he stage dived into the crowd and landed right on top of me!
The crowd didn't hold him aloft but let him get on his feet and climb back onto the stage...but he gave me that strange sideways look of his with a knowing smirk on his face. Also met most of the D+P era NPG at Glam Slam Minneapolis during a Controversy convention in 1991. Got autographs.

Here's a story for you. At the ONA concert in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) I was third in line for the soundcheck. The guy in front of me was saying how he'd love to be able to play Prince's guitar. I told him just to ask because I read on previous reviews that other club members got to.
So we get into the soundcheck and Prince is on stage with his guitar and before we sit down he asks where the party is at tonight. So the smartass I am, I say "my place" and he laughed a little. We walk by him and the guy asks if he can play the guitar. Prince says "We'll see" or something like that and we all sit down and Prince starts to play. After he's done the song he points at the guy next to me. And we're all kind of in shock when Prince motions to him to come on stage. So the guy gets up on stage and Prince comes to sit down in the empty seat next to me. But right before he sits down I say to him "Excuse me. This seat is taken." He smiled when I said this. So the guy is up on stage and he is so nervous and you can tell he maybe had two lessons before in his life. He was trying to play something like the cross. I mean it was painful to watch! So anyways Prince leans over to me and whispers "Why's everyone so quiet?" And I whisper back "I know. I'm just waiting for someone to pass gas, just so it breaks the silence." I forget wether or not if he thought this was funny, but I didn't care, I thought it was. Yeah he's Prince, but I love being a smartass! Well there's my brush with Prince. Hope you enjoyed it!

Can't say that I have met him face to face or handsake. Wish I did though. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

I met him and got to kick it w/ him and 30 other folks for 4 hours at the 2002 Celebration inside Paisley Park! It was awesome. Prince was in a fun silly mood and talked w/ us about all kinds of stuff, TRC, school systems, basketball, music etc. Billy Sparks was there as well as John Nelson, princes dad. Which is really sad cause he died liek 2 months later. It was an experince I will NEVER 4get!!...and that's all I'm sayin' about that. funny that someone brought it up.
I was talking to this girl at school, who's dad was the drummer for KC and the Sunshine band, and her mother was a singer in that band too. And this girl mentioned to her mother about this boy (me) is such a big fan of prince (i think they were listening to a prince song on the radio when this was brought up). Her mother was saying, "wow, thats cool that theres ppl his age who are still interested in him, We (Kc and the S Band) use to hang out with prince after concerts." she was saying how such a cool guy he was to hang out with.

Vancouver BC Show Afterparty: Typical afterparty with a lounge underneath the Westin Grand and a closed off section for the band. Nikka Costa was the first to arrive as she was backstage at the Orpheum after her opening act for Brittney. Takumi showed up with the Video taping of the concert and started it up on the bigscreen several non NPGMC members had asked "When was he in Vancouver?" how about a few hours ago. At one point my sister who had asked a few questions at the soundcheck waved to Prince and he came over to the edge of the roped of section and spoke to her one on one asking if he had answered her questions or did she need additional clarification they must have spoke for around 10 minutes before he sat back down BSing with Eric Leeds & John Blackwell. After my sister had returned I said I was going to attempt just to shake his hand prior to leaving and as I put my hand out to shake his hand he asked me to enter the restricted area where he had asked me if I enjoyed the music tonight and what I thought about the show in general. I then asked him about future plans and he stated that he didn't worry about the past or the future today is today. We also talked about my prior question at the soundcheck regarding larger venues music to the masses and I was suprised that he remmebered the specific questions both my sister and I had asked almost 3hours ago. I thanked him for being personable and allowing us the time to chat and how it affected my sister and he said something like he has always been like this however the media would rather portray him as something other than that. I am not sure what happened after the 2o'clock hour as we left for home.

A few of us had a spiritual conversation with him for more than an hour a few years back. It was cool being able to talk with him like that.

:nod:During the ona soundcheck in buffalo ny, prince asked how we liked the changes in the music and i said change is good, he said he liked that. He invited a bunch of us on stage during the sound check to sing the chorus to last december, he laughed at us becuase we could not sing. During the concert he choose me to come up on stage to dance, and he shook my hand at the end. During last years celebration, i stood right in front him and manny thru the workshop with tavis, i could here all the comments that he was making about what was being said. That was my experiences so far

What a fantastic experience! Thanks for sharing that. Ditto - what an awesome experience for you and your sister! My experience so far was saying "HI PRINCE" in the hallway at the movie theater at last year's Celebration as he walked past me. There weren't too many people in the hallway and he looked right at me as he passed, smiled, and said "HI". I was thrilled!! I'm still thrilled!! ***PEACE, HARMONY, AND FUN***
