Your Thoughts About Prince's Artwork What do you think of his drawing skills? Is he any good or does he suck at drawing? 1999 is his work, New Power Soul [inside cover drawings] & Exodus is his work too, right? I'm pretty sure there are other drawings he's done that I can't remember right now....[Who did the cover For "ATWIAD"?]

I don't know if that's his artwork, but I think that CD showcased among the best artwork of any Prince related release of the 90's. The Beautiful Experience maxi-single being another.
As someone who works in design, I think it's pretty good for what it is. [Edited 8/3/11 19:31pm]

I'm most unsure about the "MPLS" one I posted, but I thought for sure that did NPS & Exodus. I could be wrong though.... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

Whomever did the artwork did capture that Funkadelic vibe they were going for so I'd say it's pretty good. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

The MPLS and NPS are not Prince drawings, they are Steve Parke illustrations. Not sure who did the Exodus design though, it looks like a Parke design.

Who did the "ATWIAD" cover? Do you know? I've always wondered that.... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

ATWIAD is a painting by Doug Henders.
The Exodus artwork is a joint effort by Debbie McGuan, Michael Van Huffel and Parke.

The Gett Off Maxi Single artwork is reportedly by Prince. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

That one I love. | |

Yeah, I think the "1999" album cover and "Gett Off" Maxi Single are the only two he's done himself. Although, arguably, he could be blamed for a lot of the mediocre art direction post-Warner Bros. I don't even blame Parke for that stuff (although he did a considerable amount of it).

He probably puts more consideration into his fashion choices than album artwork. Gett Off was just a picture of artificial fur and purple crayon lettering, not too ambitious artistically but simplicity is not a bad choice. Didn't really get into Parke stuff, he's no Pedro Bell. Recently, I liked Lotusflow3r artwork, but not 20ten. Maybe Andy Allo can inspire new artistic directions/horizons for him. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

I have wondered for the longest time if Prince draws, man I wish I could know, that would be so sick if he did! I love to draw, really good at it, better than my singing lol. Facebook.com/AlexandraTorresAGT

Prince did the artwork for the 1999 cover.

This is both one of his best and "ugliest" artworkds, as well as also being one of his best of all time. When saying ugly, I'm saying that it is creative, but very naive/childlike way of drawing, at the same tine as it is original and looks pretty well balanced. It has major flaws though. This is one of the artoworks that I know of being difficult to say if it's good or bad. But I love it anyways. My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

That's why I like it--because it is simple and child-like. Like the piece of artwork you treasure that your kid brings home from school and proudly hands you to display on the wall. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I have always felt 1999 is great and Gett Off too (as for his own work). So are ATWIAD and Parade. Most of the rest of his covers are okay I think, but ever since the 90's it hasn't really been my taste. (Tho TRC is pretty)

TRC, ONA... Live and 3121 notwithstanding, I've disliked all of his cover art since Lovesexy. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Prince's work kind of reminds me of the guy that did the artwork on the album covers for the Funkadelic era. Pedro Bell. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Bell Pedro Bell is an American artist and illustrator. He is best known for his elaborate cover designs and other artwork for numerous Funkadelic and George solo albums. Pedro's dual conceptuality as a writer heavily contributed to P- Funk's literary mythology. A sampling of his contributions include Thumpasaurus, Funkapus, Queen Freakalene, Bop Gun and Zone of Zero Funkativity.
i feel Prince's work will evolve with time. I think it's very good, a bit edgy and a bit sullen. i get it. i see it as prince expressing prince.
