I'll start thinking about it! That's one of the greatest things about Prince. Not only does he master many musical styles; he also can lead you to spiritual thinking or to have fun with all his dirty stuff. He is a better lyricist than some people think, in my opinion.

it kills me that some people think that he can't write lyrics!!! I am like "whaaaattttt???" He not only writes lyrics he also writes some of the funniest lyrics ever. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Absolutely. He's a funny guy indeed. And when he speaks or sings with his funny voices... hilarious. For example, the end of Superfunkycalifragisexy, when he speaks with a drunken voice, trying to introduce some of his friends to a girl, saying: "Hope you'll like them, they're musicians". And the dialogue in Vibrator, which I quoted above... fun as hell.
I am reading now a book on Prince lyrics that runs for more than 600 pages... Hope there's some insight to the subject.

It would have to be really obvious to say it's prob the most spiritual song he's ever done. I just don't see all that in the lyrics.
Are you sure your not talking about Ingrids poem?
Cause I don't see all that spirit and heavenly stuff in these lyrics
Can U talk 2 me with your body, baby? Can U be my lover and still be my friend? (Can U be my friend?) CHORUS: Can U tolerate? Why am I not so free? Hey CHORUS (Cross the line) Cross the line sugar, cross the line {x3} I want U 2 cross the line, hey! {used as sample in "Acknowledge Me"} Cross the line Cross the line (New dance) {repeat in BG} Boni? (What?) Cross the line {repeat} Precious Lord, take my hand

Yes, but as we know with Prince he often disguises deep spiritual themes with an overtone of sex. The whole theme of Crossing the Line which he mentioned a lot on the Lovesexy tour is about crossing over to the spiritual world / heaven. Listen to the keyboard instrumentation, v spiritual / thoughtful theme. [Edited 8/10/11 10:17am]

Yeah, but there is a lot of "boni" going on before he gets to the pearly gates. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

'Boni' is Boni Boyer who sings in this song, it is not a sexual reference...

Okay, I'm about a month late, and don't know if you even care anymore, but I'm finally getting back to you on this (been on a voluntary org vacation for the last month).
Anyway, there are many songs to choose from, and a million and one ways to order them, but here is one idea:
I haven't actually tried out this playlist, but it looks good to me. I started out with some upbeat songs, then it's mostly slow songs after that, so it might not be perfect sequencing.
