Some folks said Prince made some bad choices when singles from '87 Sign O'the Times was picked.If u could decide which songs would be released,what would they be and do u think this would have pushed the album pass previous sales?

From "Sign"?

'Forever in My Life' over 'If I Was Your Girlfriend". the rest, I think he made the right choices. Was 'Housequake' released as a single? I believe it was...

SOTT was perfect as the lead off song. Being my first time getting in2 Prince heavily this song caused me to go out and purchase the most recent Lp he had released at the time of it's (SOTT) first bit of radio play, Parade. After hearing that LP I was hooked. When the SOTT LP came out, oh damn what memories. Anyway here's my order:

1) SOTT
2) Strange Relationship ( more radio friendly than If I Was..)
3) U got the look ( song was on Billboard Hot 100 for six mos.)
4) Hot Thing ( Should have been a POP single and not just released to R&B stations. This song was played by every kid I knew regardless of race)
5) I Could Never..
6) Dorothy Parker (original Version, hell release it now and people would swarm)

The Black LP should have followed as an EP with a couple of songs cut off or as B-sides.
Releasable songs would have been: Le Grind, Cindy C, and Rock Hard in a Funky Place.

Despite your love of Lovesexy it should have not been released instead of the Black LP it was as preachy as people say Rainbow Child. is. The beginning of Prince's commercial fall despite Batman (7mil) and D&P (6.5mil)

This would be my choice:

1) 'Sign Of The Times' (b-side: 'People Without')

2) 'I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man' (b-side: 'Crystal Ball')

3) 'The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker' (b-side: 'Power Fantastic')

4) 'The Cross' (b-side: 'Witness')

First,I just want to point out that I love the song "If I Was Your Girlfriend".But let's be real,that's an unusual song,and I'm not surprised that it bombed as a single.I would NOT have chosen it as a single.These 5 songs should have been the singles,in this order...

***"Housequake"---edit out the bad words,make a kickass video,and this would have been a chart-topping summer smash!

***"U Got The Look"---a perfect choice for a single,and this song went to Number Two on the pop charts

***"It"---this dark,hypnotic rocker would have made an excellent single.I'm betting that MTV viewers would have loved it.

***"Adore"---this song received alot of airplay on R&B stations anyway,so why not release it as the final single from the album?

Why Prince did not release Adore,i dont know,maybe Warner Bro's was fed up.
