Condorcet Album Poll: Emancipation.

This is the next installment in a series of polls ranking the songs on each album officially released by Prince or O+>. The goal of this project is to determine which tracks should be included in a final poll to determine the overall top 25 Prince songs in the opinion of his fans.

For those of you who haven’t been following the polls, these are different than the usual “best song” threads in that they combine the preferences of all the voters into an overall list.

I am going through these in the same order that they were ranked in the earlier poll of the best Prince albums. Now's the time of Emancipation. 36 songs to rank. Don't get discouraged by the number of songs! You're sure to have an opinion on them and you'll have a good time ranking.

Please don’t discuss the preliminary results or campaign for your favorite song(s) until the poll is closed. I plan to close the poll on Saturday, but I may close it early if the preliminary results are discussed on this site. This is to make sure the poll is as accurate as possible.

Same for me. It's certainly more difficult than the average LP, with 10 or 11 songs, but, hey, this album was very rich, it's always interesting to think again about all the songs and styles included.

Hardest poll yet, simply because of the number of songs. I'll get right on it, though.

I was late for work after ranking this album. LOL. I knew my favorite 14 (a sharp, one-disc version of Emancipation, btw), and my least favorite 6 or 7. This will be an interesting poll.

Same here. Although long to make, it's going to be one of the most interesting album polls.

That's the problem when making a big list. I elaborate an annual list of the best music I've heard during the year, and the songs list, usually 100, is really difficult between 30 and 70! Anyway, this poll is going to be very interesting.

Didn't realise it was going to be a little

People are always talking about how this album should have been cut down to 2 discs or even 1 disc, so it will be interesting to see what songs most people would want to keep.

I'm surprised that "The Love We Make" ranked so highly. It's a good song, but it wouldn't (and didn't in this poll) even make my Top 12 on this album. The rest of the Top 10 was pretty much what I expected. Although I did think that "Somebody's Somebody" or "In This Bed Eye Scream" would have placed 1st.

I'm surprised One of Us ranked so low. It's a pretty sharp cover, IMO.

Amazed The Holy River is no.1...never understood why ppl liked this song so much...

Happy that The Love We Make is no2 as it's an excellent and underrated song!

Why do fans like The Holy River so much?! It doesn't do anything for me.
