"Everybody Loves Me" is a Prince retro classic !

Last year when I picked up the 20TEN cd and I couldn't believe how horrible this cd was except for 2 songs one being "Future Soul Song" and the other being a Prince classic that feels like 1981 all over again. That song is "Everybody Loves Me". From the retro beat to the 1999 era claps to the cool distorition of his voice. I would love to see Prince end his shows with this song with a video montage of Prince interacting with his fans. Just like "The 1 U wanna C" from Planet Earth and "Dreamer" from Lotus "Everybody Loves Me" is a classic lost within a bunch of crap. Quality Control is needed , so that these "new" classics can be appreciated.

I agree. I think its one of his best pop songs of the last 20 years. It would make a great encore instead of Larry Graham songs.

Same goes for No More Candy 4 U. Hidden gems if you like his poppier side along the lines of Delirious, Automatic, Jack U off etc.

I can understand why some fans (urban supporters) don't like this style, but it has its place and Prince can be damn good at it.

Personally, I would rather he tread these pop waters than keep chucking out run of the mill paint by number ballads with the same beat and choral overdubs each time.

Well, even that's better than 'Everybody Loves Me'. I just can't understand how anyone can rate 'ELM'. It's an awful song by any artist's standard. But for Prince's talent, it really is the lowest of the low.

He's mentioned that he will no longer release anymore cds, so we have the possible scenario that 20Ten will be his last studio album. That thought is very frightening!

Without a doubt one of the freshiest sounding tracks on 20ten. Unfortunately the chorus is melodically too weak.

I can see why musically, you would put this song in the same category as Horny Toad, Gotta stop messing about, Jack U off and such.

But obviously everybody can hear the difference in the style and energy of the recorded performance, the sound and production, not to mention the explicit sexual lyrical content of those songs as opposed to the self absorbed ego worshipping of ELM.

ELM is/sounds extremely silly. Basically as a parody on himself. I would hope it is at least. :~

I will however give this song that it has a catchy melody. I think it would sell good on the music market for children.

I don't hear it like that. Its obviously a song about going to his live show and about all the love in the room, but I also think its aimed as a foil to "No more candy 4 U".

He is clearly having a laugh.

I like it too. Dont' forget, in addition to (and BEFORE) he says "everybody loves me", he says "I love everybody". It's a lovefest. It's OK to be silly sometimes.

I'm just saying...

Most people miss the point of this track. It's an effort to put all the haters on blast. Your reaction determines which side of the fence upon which you stand. So if you listen to it with your own expectation of what Prince 'should' represent musically, you're a hater. If you listen to it with love you are experiencing what Prince is all about. And he executes the track using a funny, simplified palette. I have always beleived he has the greatest musical sense of humor in the business.

It's true, he's being funny, and hititng a 70's style synth brady bunch vibe too. And he puts an annoying buzz on the vocals on purpose. He's trying to be retro and funny at the same time. And bug.

I hate it when Prince tries to create something that could appear in a Disney movie or in a cartoon

this is just as bad as Neon Telephone or Teacher Teacher barf

I don't own an original copy of 20Ten, we all know why rolleyes, but I downloaded the album and I quickly erased that weak track. confused

Yea I hope so, because it is like his most childish sounding song ever! The melody really is catchy tho'. When I think about it, I already go like:

Tonight I love everybody, everybody loves me... music lol
