'70s Prince
Well, there are only 2 albums to choose from the '70s, For You and Prince...I love Soft and Wet in For You, but all the tracks from Prince just gets me groovin'...

'80s Purple Rain
This is a toughie...definitely the best decade of Prince music...1999, Lovesexy, Purple Rain, Sign O' The Times, ATWIAD and even UTCM-- all great!! When Doves Cry is the song that got me hooked to Prince, thus, Purple Rain has a special place in my heart...

'90s Emancipation
Most tumultuous decade for Prince musically, personally, and career-wise...a lot of albums released, too, although not as memorable nor as popular as his '80s output...I go for Emancipation just because it's a special time in his life-- happily married to Mayte, expecting a baby, and enjoying his freedom from corporate media..

'00s The Rainbow Children
Just when we thought Prince has become derivative (the Rave album was a let-down) he releases TRC...definitely his best album yet IMO and my favorite Prince album...just proves that Prince still has a lot up his sleeves...

This thread certainly shows that his richest period was during the 80's. So much to choose from the 80's period!!

70's Prince
80's 1999 (at the moment!)
90's The Truth
00's One Nite Alone

He certainly has evolved as an artist.

Ouch. This is tough! But here goes:

70s - Prince
80s - SOTT (couldn't decide between 1999, Purple Rain & Parade; I finally just picked one)
90s - The Gold Experience
00s - TRC (Xpectation comes in a close second)

Please bear with me for a moment, but...

I LOVE PRINCE!!!

...thanks, just had to share that after thinking about all these great albums.

Peace, David

Hey, I just thought of something... He's had a Top 11 singles hit (in the US) during each decade except for this one. Hmm... looks like we have something to look forward to... not that it really matters.

oh... and why are so many of you putting the apostrophe after the zero? hehe ...not that it really matters.

70's - ( this started it all)
For U

80's- (sombody else said it, this was Prince's Decade, so I gotta pick three)
Purple Rain (it was a hit for a reason),
Parade (LP made me a Prince fanantic),
SOTT ( GOD what an album)

90's (gotta have 2)

Diamonds and Pearls (Prince's proof that he still could make extreme hits, Gett off maxi single was my summer of '91 theme song)

Crystal Ball ( Between this and Emancipation Prince released over 50+ songs, and with modern technology if there was a bad one in there I could just skip over it)

2000-2003

The Rainbow Children ( Unbelivably leaps and bounds over the past. Proof that u don't need hit type songs to be a great pop musician)

One nite Alone (Live) (a Live Prince LP, why do we even need to attempt to critique.just awesome)
