Is Prince Less Mysterious Than He Was In The 80's and 90's? He seems less mysterious to me. But I like it though, maybe he'll get more friendly and release some vault material or give people a tour of Paisley Park

Don't get your hopes up. Prince has never been especially friendly toward his fans, and I don't think he ever will be.
I think he still tries to be 'mysterious', but even if he is, nobody really seems to care about him and his 'mystique' anymore.

If I could have anticipated some of the idiotic crap to come out of his mouth beginning in the 1990s, I wish he'd have remained mysterious.

The more guarded a celebrity is, the more people want to know what's going on.

Remember kids, no celebrity can seem as "mysterious" anymore now that we have the internet to oversaturate ourselves with anything 24/7 and yes if you're commenting about how you don't think he's mysterious anymore but still on the Org, he's still doing something right Trolls be gone!

I've never thought of him as mysterious. I'm firmly planted in denial

To me he seems more friendly, but still as mysterious as ever. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

The mystique about him died when he DID open his mouth more. Around '96 or so...lol

It was the Oprah show that did me in. I was like this mf has WAY too much time on his hands...talking about something living inside of him and not knowing if it's a boy or girl! I mean, WTF? Seriously? Who says that? TRUE BLUE

I agree completely. Appearing on Oprah was the beginning of then end of the mystery of Prince. If he'd just talk about his music it would be cool, but since Oprah he's talking about everything else but his music.

I had always dreamed Prince would go on Oprah one day, but I guess I didn't know it would have turned out like it did. Normally you hear famous people talking about their lives and you realize that they aren't that different from everybody else...besides the fame and $, but Prince was a whole other story. Ridiculous really and the interviews just kept on coming and the worse it got. Still love his 80s music up until 96 though. TRUE BLUE

***THIS***
It was bad enough when he lowered himself to talk to Martha-Fuckin-Quinn in 1986 but the whole Oprah, invented honesty, sideshow was a mess. His mysterious allure went up like smoke from a used-up match. Poof! [Edited 8/4/11 0:15am]

I shook his hand when he held it out at a gig at the G-Mex Manchester for the Gold Experience tour and was waiting for some crazy power to surge through me (I know, I know but I was only 14). When it didn't and I realised he was just a bloke, I must admit I was a bit gutted.
Don't ask me why I thought something would happen, I just did. He was my idol at the time and all my spare time/pocket money was spent on something to do with him.

Mysterious? No. An enigma? Yes.
