"Poom Poom" Is Underrated!

I just listened to this song for the first time since becoming a Prince fan back in December of 08'.

This song has a special place in my heart. It's just a good playful song.

Underrated? falloff

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Huh? When I became a Prince fan I used to listen to that song everyday. It wasn't until today that I heard it again for the first time.

Sorry I misunderstood your original post. I thought you meant it was the first time you had ever heard it since becoming a Prince fan.

To be fair you can't listen to something again for the first time.

Given the quality of your threads, it was an honest mistake.

People can say what they want about prince "worst" songs. But fact is, they are often even harder to over look than his classics. The weirdness and annoying nature of the song that many don't like is also a perfect way of discribing why Prince is so damn creative. Listen to his 10 weirdest songs of all time, and some would probably say that he is a mental case.

Its terribleness is underrated. Like, there really aren't enough words to describe how badly it sucks.

Didn't say I personally like it. However it is impossible to forget some parts of the song if you've been unlucky enough to have heard it, haha. It's not an easy song to ignore. That is his strength and weakness sometimes. Most of his music is damn hard to ignore no matter if it is good or bad. So it doesn't sound good as background music.

I agree with you. I fucking love this song, It's got a great groove especially love the bit where he's doing vocals witha lollipop in his mouth (totally shows he's having fun).

Also great vocal performance with the screams

This is one of my feel good songs! How he sings "Craving you so much, shit - I crave you all the time" has me swooning. When I listen to it, I straight out groove. The beat is infectious.

I can imagine Prince was just playing around when he made this, it's light, cheeky & fun .. I like it nod fuck the haters!

Maybe people don't like it because of the word "poom" being repeated 52 times in the chorus? I know that's why I don't like it. The rest of the song is fine, I guess.

That's the same reason I love it. People try to take Prince songs to serious. That song is meant to be "off the wall".

I know, but like soemone said..it's him only saying "pom poom..." that makes it atrocious. Like he could not think of anything else to say and trying to sound "hard". Hey I am one of those people that really like Ronnie Talk To Russia, Cloreen and Wedding Feast (which isnt actually a song). I just
