I love this song, the Prince version...great lyrics and so true about many relationships.

I have it on a boot called 'Yellow'...Prince's vocals, but the official version is on Martika's Kitchen as unique said.

I think Prince's version is better, but I have to say I prefer Martika's version of Love thy will be done, just because Prince's vocals are a bit weird and too strained.

Get 'Work It 2.0 Updated' and you can't go wrong.

Forget about all the old boots. You'll find the best version available of every track on that set (barring some that surfaced after this one was released, like Pure Funk's '30 Years Of Unreleased Funk' series).

I'm sure that Prince's 'version' of Love.. Thy Will Be Done sounds weird because it's purely a guide vocal for Martika as opposed to Prince's vocal take on the song. He's impersonating Martika's voice for her to hear and follow, which is why even if it was crisper than crisp, it's not the one to listen to. It's probably my favourite Prince recording of all time.

Having said that, the rock'n'roll NPG version (available on bootlegs) is amazing too. Prince isn't on vocals, but his arrangement and guitar work are fabulous.

I had this but ditched it for 'The Work' which, for reasons I no longer remember, I thought was supposedly better. Should I have stuck with Work It 2.0?

The Work is superseded by Work It 2.0.

I'd say that The Work is pure rubbish compared to Work It 2.0 Updated.

Too bad about the lousy indexing of some of the tracks on Work It 2.0

^Funny that you say that when The Work has NO ORDER AT ALL.

Regardless of order, the quality on Work It 2.0 Updated is infinitely better.

I'm not talking about the track order. I'm talking about the sloppy indexing.

Yes, I think it will remain a very important collection for a long time to come.

ID tags?

I think I remember there being no id tags at all on the flac files. Bit of a peeve, but it did give me an incentive to create my own 'year/project sessions' collection from Work It, nice little covers for iTunes and all geek

Incidently, it drives me fucking nuts when I download a new boot and it isn't tagged, I mean in this day and age, tagging should be 100% standard :explode:

Thank you all for answering.

I have googled and such, asking here was a last resort. I knew it was on an album and needed to know which to buy. I forgot that it was for Martika.

Thank you!

where the beginnings of each track is split. sometimes the CD track begins after the first beat of the song, etc.

^It must be your copy. That doesn't happen in mine. Unless the beginning of the song is really missing (Cookie Jar, Heaven, etc...).
