what do u get more excited over? NEW albums or Soundboard recordings

i've seen people say on this site that they only care about those soundboard leaks and that the new albums don't excite them that much. so which one gets u more excited?

I don't get excited of much anymore. I'm mellowed / chilled out. Seein' my man live, I'm always in 'awe' of his performances. I'm listening to Montreux now and the first thing that comes to mind is it's very very cool that this was made available for 'us' to hear it. The last thing I got excited over was the Paisley Park show on Oct. 2009, being at Paisley for the first time. Then I got excited over working the Super Bowl with Prince & The NPG. When 20Ten came out I was excited yeah, I was excited. A new album, got it before a lot of other fam did. Passed hard discs to friends and mp3 emails back and forth.

My man needs to come to South Florida and do 3 shows at least. Maybe hit Mansion in South Beach formerly known as Glam Slam ...

cool

I very rarely listen to Prince's official recordings anymore, and it's been a long time since I was excited about any of those releases.

Collecting unofficial live recordings and outtakes is where my interest has been for a long time and will continue to be. As far as soundboards are concerned, for me they don't have to be exclusively so, just so long as the music is good, that is all that matters.

Soundboard recordings. I'm checking my usual sources three times a day for the new Montreaux soundboard recording. If I hadn't just bought new glasses I'd go ahead and get it on eBay, but $56 is a little steep.

$10 should be "a little steep" too, considering how you shouldn't be paying for boots! It is so unnecessary to pay for it.

Unforutnately these days, soundboards. Prince is still a hell of a live performer, especially when he mixes rarely played songs with some great hits.

BOth, I do have to say I was excited for the 1984 recording this year....it's like this..if Prince is not going to give it to us, at least we have it.

I was excited about 20 Ten though...I will be excited for the next experience too. Longing for some funk..and more underground releases...from him. I always want him to release his best live recordings..studio recordings of the past but..oh well......probably why he is so ticked off about the internet.

New studio albums.

The only thing that excites me more is new previously unreleased songs or songs we have in inferior quality released in pristine quality such as the box o chocolates release.

The recent Live stuff from 1984 is close though

For me, I'm always excited for new studio albums!

It's an insight into what he's into and creatin at the moment and the past several years worth of albums, Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth, LotusFlow3r/MPLSounD and 20Ten have been a FANTASTIC body of work.

Sounboards are cool and great to have in the collection but I'll take a new studio album anyday. cool

Right? How many times can we keep hearing a live song in different ways and versions over and over.....nice to hear some new jams.

Agreed. I love Lotusflower especially. I will always love live concerts but the new album is my passion.

Yep, me too!! Lol! Something else to further erode his recorded legacy. disbelief And also something else to be ignored by him on stage and after 30 days of barely-there promotion. No thank you. Please just give me the soundboards!

with the very little response of the new soundboard recordings that andy allo shared, i think it's safe to say that fans anticipate new songs much more.

That does not really tell us anything, those tracks that Allo shared are just a tiny splash in a vast ocean of unofficial recordings.

TBH, I took the soundboard recordings in the OP to be boots. These youtube tracks from Allo are not really much of anything IMO, a bit like the scraps and bits 'n' bobs of live tracks Prince would put up on the NPGMC. shrug

I've heard all the old live stuff I need to hear.

I'm losing interest in the new live stuff because he won't stop playing the same songs.

The remastered boots containing old material with vastly improved sound quality still frost my pickle a bit.

New studio albums are fun because they give us something to talk about for a while and occasionally add a new song to my "favorites" pile.

What I'd really like is for a studio quality album length boot of stuff I've NEVER HEARD to randomly drop out of the sky. I've given up on that, though, so if it ever happens I'll be doubly excited.
