The Sex Of It Does any one else like this song. I only recently discovered it, but I think it could have made a really good B Side. The horn parts are great, and i really like princes vocal.
I think it was recorded for the sign o the times sessions, probably why its never been released, but ive got a stereo perfect version of it and it sounds really good. Its a nothing songs in many respects but its catchy all the same.

It was released by Kid Creole and the Coconuts back in the D & P period with Kid Creoles voice all over it. I thought it was a pretty cool tune at the time but the remixes were all awful.

didn't he write this one originally for Kid Creole & the Coconuts, under the alias Joey Coco?

P's vocal treatment is 100 times better though - as with all his songs given to others - allegiance, get blue, love...thy will be done, Eternity, Baby you're a trip etc.

Prince recorded this with The Time in mind.
Then The Time disbanded. The song gathered dust. Then Kid Creole came along. He does a pretty good job with the song...

There is a bootleg were prince and band practise this song over and over for about 30 minutes or so. At the end it is the Prince version of this song how we know it.

I believe it was longer ago... '89. reached UK no.21. Prince's version is laid back.very demo-like.He's not giving his all vocally.he sounds almost disinterested in it.

The Kid Creole version came out in February 1990.
I remember reading at the time that Prince had met Kid Creole at a concert years previously, and had finally delivered when Kid Creole's LP had been finished, but as the record company really wanted the Prince track on there, the track listing was adjusted. I've got a white label of this with the LP version, and the "Tropical Mix'
