You mean besides a shitload of money that would be made from a reunion tour? Or possibly an entire album's worth of good songs, not 80/20 filler?
Maybe. | |

I can tell you I witnessed Matt Fink playing this year (March 2011) in Minneapolis from the stage and I went to the 3 Bay Area Prince shows in May 2011 and Matt Fink T O R E U P the Oberheim and LITERALLY gave me goos bumps. It also made me sick when I saw Prince one of the CORE missing elements of his live band was the lack of that Oberheim AND the lack of having Matt onboard. NO disrespect to whomever is playing with Prince now- I'm not saying there not great players- I'm just saying when it comes to playing any songs from 1978-1990, without Matt Fink on those keys- I'm sorry, Prince is not running game like he could be. Let the opinions fly, I know what I heard from both parties and I'm telling you, when Matt played, make no mistake, it was what Prince is missing live these days.

It's funny how people just don't know what's going on, right? Thanks for spotlighting Dr Fink. That man is awesome on the keys Hell when people like Pharrel and the Neptunes are using him & Wendy you know they got it BrownMark is still killer on the bass, heard him playing with Sheila E this year at one of her shows on the West Coast, I distinctly remember them playing America
Wendy & Lisa rusty? Musicians get better

Theres 1 thing holding back a Revolution reunion - $- not Princes $, but $ for all members of the Revolution. Reason it ain't happenin' right now is P is gettin' his money up- He knows a reunion will make WAY more- but, he's gonna have to pay the Revolution A LOT more. I predict he will do a reunion based off of headlining festival slots. In other words, if Coachella pays to have the 1st P&TR reunion show, they'll have to pay a psycho amount to have that billing, then he could do a tour after doing headlining festivals, the money alone from headlining festivals is ASTONISHING- P is well aware and many onliners can think what they want, Prince is not as out to lunch as you might think he is, he's just playin' his cards closer than ever, he's puttin' a bow on his career right now and it's gotta all be dialed properly. I think Prince is completely focused and probably has much planned for the next year. If I was a Prince fan, I would start socking away money now for upcoming exciting events that are gonna be very special engagements. Of course, some will take place @ Paisley Park, who knows where else. 1 thing I know is this September marks 25 years since the Revolutions last show with Prince- I know there is a lot in the air right now... Agree. I like Wendy on guitar, but Dez was better. Little Red Corvette guitar solo work is one of my favorites!

Look, I love the Revolution back in the day but come on, some of you act like they wrote every song that was ever a hit in his whole career. Wendy and Lisa should be cannonized for their contributions because they have apparently done it all. I love the members of the NPG especially Mr. Hayes who has been with Prince longer than any member of the Revolution or any other incarnation of any band. Love the funk more now than ever. I don't listen to his music any differently than in those days. I get the music and initially don't like everything until after a few listens. Some hits you immediately and some of it comes later. Long live the NPG!!!

According to writer Jon Bream, Prince recently paid $450,000 for a huge warehouse in the suburbs of Minneapolis where he intends to build an ultramodern recording studio. There he will continue to write and record for himself and others.
Lately he has been letting other band members contribute more to the songwriting and arranging. Lisa and Wendy conducted a string section on three songs from Purple Rain. Sheila E., Apollonia 6 and members of The Revolution have each contributed to the others’ records as well.
“We play a lot together,” Wendy Melvoin explained to Musician magazine about the way The Revolution works. “When we jam we’ll get caught in a groove and, knowing each other’s style so well, we can create a song. That’s how a lot of stuff gets created and arranged. . . He hasn’t tried to tame us down at all, and he’s more willing to accept ideas from each of us.”

i don't agree that most of the magic was made with the revolution but i've a feeling a lot of people would make that association if they reunited and the album turned out really good. Revolution needs prince more than prince them imo.. [Edited 7/28/11 12:45pm]

The Revolution members are too old anyway. Have you seen them? Prince has not aged in comparison to them.
Plus they are overrated. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Co-sign, dude!!! The only way any of those guys would be "rusty" is they'd have to get the feel of playing together again, and even that rust would be gone after an afternoon of jammin' like they did in the old day.
Prince does NOT want to reunite and do anything with "The Revolution" as a band because he's afraid he'll look like those old groups that get together for a reunion when they're nice and old. And he doesn't want to appear like he's old and out of step, and in his mind, the full-on "reunion" is an old person/act's "gimmick". I can guarantee that's why he doesn't wanna do it. That, and he doesn't want to risk doing better music with them because it would highlight just how lifeless his recent (past MANY years) "solo" shit really has been. So, he makes fun of the idea if it's ever brought up and says he only lives in the now. Mmm hmmm. Whatever, negro.
He's stubborn. We all know that, so the only things we can do is just live off our Revolution soundboard recordings and outtakes. Now, if only his ass would release more live shows from back in that day, people wouldn't be clamoring for a Rev reunion as much. But that's another story for another day...

People really need to get over the Revolution thing. The best music Prince put out throughout his career was before and after the Revolution existed.
The only reason why the Revolution is so revered is because of the hype around Purple Rain. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

An on-stage reunion for a couple songs once in a while, is one thing.
Actually re-forming a band in earnest and making new songs, is another.

Um. Yeah. HUGE sales would be gained from it and a WHOLE lot of PR. Don't be the kind of Prince fan that doesn't recognize that MOST people who liked Prince liked him during THIS period and would pay big moeny to see this show. I might not....but I've seen him through many tours and bands. This would almost be the one to avoid becasue it WOULD be for "THOSE" people..
