Here's why Prince and the Revolution wont reunite . . .

If they get back together and the album is magic , Prince's whole legacy will be called into question. He's had some moments post SOTT , but the true magic was made with the Revolution. No way Prince is taking that chance.

I think he just views that as being the past and he doesn't want to go backwards.

Oh lawd! They only lasted for 3 albums out of his entire career. Prince played damn near every instrument in the studio himself up until Purple Rain. The only reason the Revolution gets so much hype is the bootlegs that surfaced from their time together. They made good music but it's also most of the songs people are calling out for retirement at the live shows.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

because he knows fans and critics will like the album no matter what...he'll do 99% of the work and haters will fall over themselves being contrary and praising wendy and lisa...just like old times.

he'll get credit for how great his post-80s stuff is once he's dead. i think he's resigned himself to that. his stuff just isn't being judged on merit these days. rainbow children was a level above most of the stuff released that year and critics were 50/50. it was on both the best and worst albums of the year list of some major publications. what does that say? some people can judge the music and leave him out of it. some can't.

Nawww, I think the originator of this post is on2 something

Prince goes backwards all the freakin time. What do you think he was doing when he had Morris & Jerome & Sheila E open for him at Coachella and say "This is how the PR tour was supposed to be"

When he kissed Tamara at the 2006 Brit Awards show during Purple Rain (which made no sense)

On his LotusFlower website when the little tv was playing Kiss and taking about the excitement of 1986

Prince incorporates the past all the time

Not really , If he worked with Wendy & Lisa again it would be a colaboration

And he didn't do 99% of the work,

During the PR years into the Dream Factory sessions Prince gave Wendy & Lisa full charge to do work on songs in the studio like Old Friends 4 Sale & Strange Relationships

Power Fantastic is a composition by Lisa Coleman Prince added the lyrics of masturbation

Prince get's the credit for the song though

I would say Lisa Coleman probably had more input in Prince's music than anyone from the time she joined the band

The real reason is because nothing will be gained from it. Nothing.

I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I believe most of the original members of The Revolution has lost their skills,

IF those musicians are still active they have become a little "rusty" after all those years,

don't you think??????

To re-unite would be for nostalgic reasons only, and possibly sound terrible. That's my guess.

You're assuming that Prince feels his own work has been shit since the Revolution days which would be cause for the worry. I as a fan who listens and enjoy many of his work Post-Revolution sees magic in those gems and I'm sure he feels the same. Your point will only hold valid to those who have been stuck in the Revolution bubble for decades.

This is news to me. I thought it was about loneliness and compassion and love in general and the love of God creeping into your heart....?

I think Lisa and Wendy still have a lot of talent and skills and could easily go on tour with Prince or record great music with him again. Prince´s music before and after them was great, too. IMO, he doesn´t really NEED them but I must admit that I do miss their input and the inspiration they all had when working together. And the rest of the band ? I don´t consider them rusty at all. If he go on tour with the band he had in 1998 or the one he had in 2007, or his current line-up, then of course he can record and tour with the Revolution again. Whether the output is going to be great is a matter of speculation because I doubt that it´s possible to recreat that magic of that particular time in pop history but who knows. It would definitely be interesting.

But then again, we don´t hang around with our buddies or ex-girlfriends or colleagues from 1984, so why should Prince? lol

Lisa was there from (Dirty Mind) 1980 - (Parade) 1986. She's an OG Revolution member. lol Hell, she was there during the pre-Revolution Andre (and his plastic pants) era. biggrin

A reunion with Cymone, Dez, Fink and Lisa would've been better actually... but that ain't gonna happen either.

It was great to see him reunite with Fink, Brown Mark and Bobby Z at the show I saw in 2000

That was the closest thing to a Revolution reunion I think there has been....

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

when eye think about the revolution i wonder why he stopped using that name .. the revolution seemed to change a lot with band members .. he was presenting a band image on the album art early on .. they were all very talented and he should just invite them all along ..

prince should get them all on board and perform crystal ball/ dream factory/ sign o the times / camille songs live with the revolution .. and record it of course ..

the revolutions sounded great on that mountains / america jam they did without prince a few years ago .. i don't see how a revolution reunion would not be the show of the century .. i guess prince could ruin it and make wendy and lisa sing on some crap like lolita ..
