Love--thy will be done appreciation

Gorgeous song, anyone else love it? This might be the finest pop song he wrote in the 90's.

Absolutely love it, I love all versions, but would love a crisp duet version, the version on work it 2.0 isn't great sounding.

cool

I love this song. It was great to see it in the European setlists from 2010 in the Free, Pearls B4 The Swine, Love... Thy Will Be Done medley.

Gorgeous sounding. Love the chugging guitar, lush strings and multi-layered vocals, but the most memorable thing to me is the lyrical phrasing. That staccato without-pausing-for-breath delivery. For example:

and-I-see-all-of-your-creations-as-one-perfect-complex,

no-one-less-beautiful-or-more-perfect-than-the-next

Marvellous stuff. Prince does this kind of thing so well (see Sticky Like Glue, Joy In Repetition, Electric Chair) cool

Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Funny, Martika's version just came on shuffle. Love it. Interesting how he also recycled the beat for 'One of Us'.

I only have Prince's version and I love it!

Great appreciation thread! It's an under-rated classic in my opinion and never given enough love!

Shut up already, damn.

Prince's version, with all of the layering, sounds heavenly....literally.

It speaks to me. nod

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Rahsaan Patterson told me that recording background vocals and listening to the original sessions was once of the mose inspiring times in his life. Rah said he was only 19 when he recorded the backups.

Beatuiful song and arrangement... one of P's best.

There is no NPG version with Prince on vocals, only Sonny T. cool i think it was considered for Exodus at one point.

i heard this tune 4 the first time about 2-3 years ago. it is a beautiful song, and i love the version where his co-singers take part in vocs, as has been done in recent shows and tours

I have only heard Martika's version; I guess I should head over to youtube to hear his. It is a beautiful song. i would love to make a disc of all his spiritual songs written before 2000, they were his best.

What I wouldn't do for a cleaner version of this gem. Every one i've heard with P on vocals sounded very muddy!

I heard it this morning and fell in love with it more. I love everything about it, especially the loop drums and the layered vocals..It's PERFECTION! It needs more credit like so many Prince songs, this one to me is credited to GENIUS! Prince exceptionally does these things so often, and it just makes you drown in his awesomeness. This is a song that I could listen to on repeat! The lyrics are also very enticing! Another gem!!!
