My Computer Appreciation

Why is it...that this Prince song is rarely talked about and NEVER, EVER gets shown any love around here????

"Welcome, U've got mail"
(Computer) [sample repeats in BG]
It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright
I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Make believe it's a better world, a better life

Nothing on TV I ain't seen before
Another murder on the news, I can't take no more
Evil Incorporated, blowing up bombs and thangs
I have a child, huh, I have a lot 2 explain
I could write a letter, but who would I send it 2?
It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright
I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Make believe it's a better world, a better life

I called an old friend of mine just the other day
No congratulations, no respect paid
All she did was wonder if the rumors were true
I said - "No, I ain't dead yet, but uh.. what about U?"
I can count my friends with a peace sign: 1, 2
It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright (Oh)
I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Make believe it's a better world, a better life (A better life)

I got no mail, my computer

I told them I don't wanna see a doctor unless he's lonely 2
Every Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright
I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Make believe it's a better world (Make believe it's a better world)
A better life [x52]

Which rude asshole are you referring to?

Prince has been a rude asshole from the beginning in 1978.

I've been a rude asshole since 2007, when the a fore mentioned, rude asshole made me that way after 29 years of being in his corner.

The song in question came out in 1996.

So please...by all means...clarify!!! Which rude asshole do you mean?

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Well, looking at my signature, I clearly appreciate this song.. I remember when I first got into the internet I so wanted to sample the 'you,ve got mail' sound instead of the UH OH of ICQ! LOL

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

Hello stranger! I'm Hatrina. Don't let the name fool you. I am a Prince fan!

From waaaaay back in the day. I love him and can't fucking stand him...in equal measures!

Yet, I'm not afraid to say so...publicly! And will do so...un-apologetically...whenever the moment strikes me to do so!

Which is something that HE actually embedded in me. Though right about now...I'm sure he wishes he hadn't!!!! Oh well! shrug

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Kate Bush or not, I don't like the track that much. It would have been nicer if she was louder in the mix though.

Harlepolis

I wouldn't know Kate Bush was singing in it had I not read the liner notes. Burying her so far back in the mix was just ridiculously pointless he might as well omitted her to begin with.

Emancipation89

Yup I really like this song a lot...really there's not one song I can say I DISLIKE from Emancipation album. The songs that I didn't think were great at first grew on me....

But I have a child, huh, I have a lot 2 explain This part always breaks my heart...like listening to Let's Have A Baby...cry But to me that's one of the things that make this entire album so special. Listening to songs about Prince being very much in love, being a family oriented, hopeful, geniuenly happy person...makes me forget about all the sad images of him battling WB

I like it fine. Good mix of neo-hippie stylings with some old-school Prince funk on the vamp, all while musing about technology's effect on lifestyles.

Revolutionary

Always loved "My Computer". Kate Bush, great production values and ace lyrics. FOr me, "Emancipation" has always been a kind of "Sign "O" The Times/Crystal Ball of the 90's. That record is full of killer material. I never get tired of it. Top 10 Prince album for me.
