I know people lie to the media especially regarding there personal lives( that is understandable) But to continuously lie and trick fans about albums and music is pointless. There are plenty of Popular artist that say "My album is coming out soon or im performing a hit song again" and look no shit the album comes out or the hit is performed.

Its obvious prince makes up these lies sometimes so why even lie when half the fans know your lying? Like another orger said" the novelty has worn out" so why even do it anymore?

He doesnt need to make up these pointless clues and tricks to get attention. He is in the hall of fame! My God!. The man has a set fanbase already its not like he just got into the music game.

Its called marketing and hype - Prince may well be a "legend", but saying he doesn't need to stir anything up in order to keep him being talked about is somewhat naive.

Do McDonalds still advertise, everywhere all the time? Doesn't everyone already know what McDonalds is and where their nearest store is? Of course they do! WHY do McD's still advertise? Because their sales would drop off if they didn't.

Its the same for Prince. Unless he's creating hype and mystique, his already lowering sales will fall even further.

where did that quote come from? I think we are talking about two different things here. Im talking about the conscience of an artist. You are talking about the work ethic of an artist. Which clearly doesnt apply to Prince on any level since he seems to be extremely disciplined. Almost other wordly-like disciplined. Your logic is dizzying. Everyone seems to forget that Prince is not signed to any record label. He records when HE feels like, releases new music when HE feels like and tours when HE feels like. He could never record again or flood the market with a new CD every 4 months if he wanted to. He doesn't have deadlines to meet or someone telling him it's time to record the next CD. It's all his choice.
