Some one should do this with Princes singles If you haven't seen the James Brown singles collection you really should check it out. It's amazing full of songs you would have missed if you weren't there the first time. Alan Leeds does detailed liner notes on every single song with the story behind it's recording who played it and it's chart and cultural impact and that is absolutly every song. It also has amazing artwork

However there are currently 10 volumes of this and I think it's about time somebody done this with Prince's back catalogue all beautifuly remastered like James's

Love HIP O SELECT stuff, I have all the James Brown singles you mentioned and they are just an excellent collection of singles altogether on cd. A Prince one would be great but not as big as the James Brown one so I'm up for it.
Last week I ordered 2 Tammi Terrell Hip 0 cd's and The genius of Miles Davis trumpet case boxset, and now I have them to love you notice how much the Prince back catologue needs some serious attention.

I hope we dont have to wait untill Prince is dead before we get this but it might just be the case, Sad thought indeed.
But yeah I've got the last five and I'm working on the first 5 apparently there's going to be an 11. Is there enough 80s/90s stuff to warant another two disks?
They are th perfect example of how it should be done in sound theme and presentation

i keep meaning to fork out for those singles collections. And just the other day i found a (The) JBs Anthology album i totally forgot i had. Again, the liner notes were penned by Mr Alan Leeds.
I agree that something should be done about Prince's back catalogue. But i wouldn't say a new release of singles is needed. I think the Hits/The B-sides does a pretty good job of that (even tho with some glaring omissions). I think instead a representative live box set of 80's tours would be good - but with minimal over-dubbing (if any at all). But we keep harping on about this and i seriously cannot see anything like this happening any time soon.
For now the bootleggers are filling the void that Prince himself is so obviously not too bothered to fill himself. I guess we should just be happy with that

I made my own set of all his singles. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.
