Do you think prince is ever gonna retire? For Real Do you think prince is really gonna retire from the music business? And by retire i mean stop recording, stop touring, stop producing, stop helping new artist, Stop everything.
Would he just move into some cottage on a private island and enjoy his golden years with his 20 something concubines?
We all know he has gotten that free AARP medicine fannypack in the mail. Why wont he just live it up in paradise? Maybe it's not his thing i guess.

Prince can't stop. He is music. He may slow down with recording and touring, but stop, never. Prince will have albums released long after his purple yoda-ness has moved on to the next dimension. I just hope that they are left in the right hands to see the light of day. __________________________________________________

He ain't retired now is he? So no I doubt it seriously. Regardless on his stance as to why he'll "stop", he won't. He's probably recording when he's not on his tour grind lol

B.B. King never retired even when he had to sit on a stool. Nor did James Brown. I don't see P ever retiring either. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I do not believe he will ever retire. Long after he decides to enjoy his life out of the spotlight (no more touring, releasing music, etc.) he will still be doing music. Like he stated he IS music; they will always be one. "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

I love plenty of music released in the 90s and this decade. Some brilliant stuff has been released this year alone.
Just not Prince's material.
Maybe you should learn how to post something more substantial or thought out.

Now everyone.. I only asked if he'd retire from the music business. I never said he would stop making music for his own enjoyment.
Maybe the "stop everything" threw people off.

Musicians don't retire. They just stop playing. He'd have to completely turn it off to "retire".
Bill Withers said he still might have some music in him, but if you want to call anyone "retired", he'd fit in that category. He still records and writes.
The clip of Bill on Tavis Smiley, where Tavis hands him the guitar is funny... he just inspects the guitar, like, "what do you want me to do with this thing?"
Retiring from the music BUSINESS is a different story. That's like Joni Mitchell, but she still writes songs here and there. Her focus is more on painting. Or Billy Joel, where he's not out to write songs to be played on the radio.
He'd have to lose complete interest in music to retire. Tina Turner no longer records, but still likes to perform. She's 70-71? Has 20 years on Prince...
He still likes to perform live though.

You know, when/if he ever does stop recording and performing, and begins just playing for his own enjoyment... I bet that'd be some great stuff.

I can't see Prince releasing another album, but I can't see Prince retiring from live performances.

I think as long as he can use his hands and his voice, there´s no reason for him to stop doing live shows. I´d still go to his concerts even if it meant watching a very, very old man playing the piano or guitar in a small club. Regardless of some of the justified criticism considering his recent live shows, setlist or band members, I´m still quite happy to see that he´s still doing his thing and enjoying what he´s doing. His concerts give me a very long lasting natural high and I think he´s got such a huge body of work to choose from that there´s no risk of running out of material. Sure, there´s a lot to criticize but in the end, he´s still my favorite musician as far as live music is concerned.
