JW is one of the more ehhhh religions. I put it down there with Scientology.

Eh? Religions are all the same - how on earth do you differentiate them?

His womanizing with star struck youngsters is hardly a witness for

any religion, except the church of harmonysingles.com. Telling his

audience to say 'artichoke' while romancing these youngsters

makes him a bit of a hypocrite in any other religion; so do we conclude

the JW's smile and wink on their star representatives that use sexually

tantalizing images and punctuate them with their own vile acts?

In one year I count three very young romantic partners-Bria, Misty and Andy .

Could be more. In mainstream Chrisitianity, this is called The Woman at

the Well. So no, hardly a 'witness' for any religion. cool

I think he wrote the song Witness so one day he woudl become a witness and do the thing mention above....witness for the prosecution! I sure hope he never gets in any major lawsuits like MJ. Cause you know every media station would be playing that unreleased hit! Would be a good time for him to release it if it ever happend. Maybe he is just a witness for the music business?

Part of being a member of any organized religion is some degree of brainwashing. JW requires more of that than most for my taste. I hope he one day emerges again.

It's clear he doesn't adhere 100% to their teachings as quite often he sings about sex outside of marriage (ie On The Couch) and even one nights stands (Love Like Jazz), which are both frowned upon by JWs.

Also he speaks about occult/new age teaching as well like hypnotic suggestion on The Rainbow Children or being under a spell in One Song.

In an interview he said JWs are the closest to the truth, he didn't say they ARE the truth, so he still has his own independant thinking, but obviously he draws a lot from their teachings.

and that is really ok. It is ok to draw from different faiths and religions to form your own, as

long as you realize it is your own and not expect others to fall in line with your thinking. Prince has

always considered his way to be The Way as in the the LA Anna Stesia song where he

appeals to the audience for the Rainbow Children an the NPG (says their is only One Church).

I personally love the Rainbow Children but hate the absolutism of the JW's-the shunning, the de-fellowshipping which is probably as we speak wreaking havoc in prince's romantic and professionl

life because he tends to blend them together. Prince's religious road is therefore complex and one

of his choosing, period. Hopefully he understands that and further hoping he doesn't expect us

to follow him, and if so, he is a lousy representative of a Christian faith but a great model for

indpendent personal thinking and expression which is where we all should be rather than being

religious clones of each other.cool

Honestly the whole JW thing has turned me off. If that's his thing then fine. Just don't go acting like everyone else is an idiot or fool because they don't follow. I've felt like P talks down to people who don't subscribe to his views. (which changes like the wind) "Are you a leader or a follower?, then follow me" chatterbox

Also as others have mentioned he's a hippocrite. Just because he does not curse anymore does not make his lyrics or personal life anymore pure and wholesome. He's great at saying one thing and doing another. I still love the whole "Free the Music" phase when he was playing L4OA shows. Now he's not releasing anthing because he wants big money upfront. We could go on and on with things he's preached and done a 180 on it. Honestly as a loooong time fan I expected this to be only a phase like everything else.

That's all old hat now for me. I just try to focus on the music anymore.

Heck, no!

First of all, there's no way I'd join a religion based on what a singer or celebrity is doing.

Second, Prince's behavior and comments since becoming a JW have given me a negative impression of the faith. Though I would never judge a religion based on one person. Just sayin, Prince may not be the best "witness".

Nowhere on Rainbow Children does he say it's the only church. In fact I don't see the album as being preachy at all? I don't understand the comments about that. He only loosely mentions the "new translation" of the bible.

In listening to it today I think he's talking about the "law of attraction" where symbolically the subconcious is the female and the concious male, and the female must be subject to the male in that respect in order to give birth to a new reality (the everlasting now he sings about). Hence the father & son symbolic aspects.
