Live Performances vs Studio Albums

I wish that the same energy that is put in by Prince and the band during the live performances would be the same energy put into studio albums.

I notice the difference.

Just record the album the same way you do a live show neutral

I prefer live performances.

I actually always feel a certain comfort when the live performance sounds like the album version, same tempo, similar intonations etc...

I do enjoy the difference of the live and the images that it brings to the song, but I'd probably say I love the studio albums more than live performance. Don't get me wrong, I've never experienced anything like the concerts I've been to, but seeing performances where I wasn't there is entertaining but I won't prefer it to the album version I'm used to hear.

I guess I like closing my eyes and picturing in my head the artist recording the song in the studio. How he moved the faces he made recording it, the emotions he put into it etc...

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

how about releasing live music after the the recorded sessions and the tours have been made? 4 example, how about releasing a new Live LRC? there is not another artist alive that can take a song and give it a new life as Prince does. i do like the recorded music and then the live music release...4 instance, One Night Alone. That live set was/is the bomb. or, how about putting "Girl" in a new release...who ever thought that this would be make the live circuit so elegantly? i dig the live music when i know that i was in the audience and can vibe with the vibes that were there to take me back and then move forward to the present. or, if not there, it still is so everything to hear the live music along with all of the fans there.

i guess that we always want more of Prince...so, how about a Welcome 2 America album release,,,,,puhleaze.

Nowhere is it more obvious to me than on Fury from 3121.

I agree that he has more energy live, but he tends to not care about his singing when performing live, which is typical of any musician performing live, but I still don't like it. I also strongly dislike his current band. Still, I'd prefer live albums - or live in studio albums - where the band is performing live, but in a studio without all the screaming fans and stuff. That way we also wouldn't have him constantly shouting stuff to the crowd, like "you gon' make me shake my doo loose!" and "we about to get deep, y'all", etc.

So Lov4U...are you serious? Sure, there are some songs where Prince beats the Studio version to a pulp. But what about all the songs that background females sing instead of Prince? What about all the medleys and shortcuts? When Prince wants to, he is better live, but he is going through the motions for half of every recent concert I have attended. On the "Welcome 2 A Few States In America" tour, he is on top of the world one minute, and then holding the mic out to the auidence to sing the next, and is just not very consistent.

INTERJECT: I believe the sound of the song sounds better live on SNL then on CD. Which it does.

Some songs are better live..some are better in the studio versions:

Studio version is better: Adore, When Doves Cry, Kiss , Lets Go Crazy, 1999

Live version is better: Fury, Irresistible Bitch, Purple Rain, The Cross

I much prefer the live versions of If I Was Your Girlfriend to the studio one.

I wish that he would do the full versions live more than the lame edits. A medley is ok as a break... but most of the songs should be full length. but then he would need a better teleprompter
