If Not Outtakes...... ....Why won't Prince release his versions of tracks he wrote & produced for others? I've heard him perform tracks he wrote for The Time, The Family, & Sheila E etc. I think fans would be happy to hear at least tracks like 'G-Spot', 'The Dance Electric', etc.... in really good quality. I know I'd love to hear Prince's Full version of The Family's album this way. They wouldn't be outtakes in the traditional sense [because they were officially released by his "Protege's"]. & besides, it'd be a joyous way to "milk" tracks he's already made money off of...and please diehard fans too

I think a lot of these Prince versions are just "scratch tracks". Kind of audio notes. There may not be any fully produced completed versions around. | |

Interesting concept. He could release the Prince Songbook album.
I guess if there was any chance of it being a hit, you'd stick all the best known tracks on.

It would be an odd album.
Not sure he'd be willing to release a few of those tracks these days, and I'm also not sure how they'd be met publicly, given the lyrics. Stand Back won't have a Prince demo either, but as Nicks' gave away a co-credit to him, no reason why he can't do his own version of it
Edit: And before some smart-arse feels the need to tell me that I Feel For You & How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore were released by Prince first, I'm not stupid.
