1999 has got A LOT more classic tracks than MPLSound.

I love both, but 1999 has it.

I actually like the album MPLSound.

However, MPLSound shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as 1999. And, like I said, I'm a fan of MPLSound.

1999 = an all time Classic that was to be a huge influence on the 80s pop, hip hop, new wave, rnb and electro scene. And is still a huge influence to this day giving birth to the likes of Neptunes and Timbaland and "smaller" acts like Dam Funk...

MPLsound = A few decent songs that would be even better if they werent performed with a weak attempt at sounding like in 1999. The album sounds both too demo like and over produced at the same time. Damn, how is that possible? However, I do like some of it. Better with time actually sounds pretty good when I'm pretending I don't hear his lazy drum programming and with a bit to much glitter and glamour and hollywood all over the entire production and vocals. It's a las vegas attempt at doing 1999. Some good songs, with lazy production.

1999 is a classic album. It may not be perfect, but it's one of the finest examples of Prince's vision and unbridled creativity in the early part of his career.

Name aside, nothing about MPLSound "clearly defines" the Minneapolis Sound. It's got a couple pretty good tracks, but on the whole, MPLSound ranks with absolute worst things Prince has ever done.

Hard to beat 1999, Little red Corvette, All the Critics, Delerious, Let's PRetend, International Lover, Lady Cab... and the best of all:

DMSR!

MPLSound poos all over 1999. 1999 is just so horribly dated and has awful songs.

1999 IS Prince, MPLSound isn't.

Wow....this is one of the craziest questions I've seen in a while . I'm not saying I don't have my share of dumb threads too, but I've never went this far....

1999 is a classic brilliant album. MPLSound is not in the same league.

Hahaha...When I read the title..I was expecting a "Just Joking You Guys" Hahaha. BUT you are serious..lol. The songs on "1999" can not even stand in the same room as those of MPLSound. I love MPLSound, some of the songs are fantastic, but the skill of them are midget to those of "1999" even with heels on..(no Pun Intended to Prince and his height..lol) I find it unreasonable to even elaborate as to why I have my convictions for this...It just seems plain and in the open..lol

The only fault I can find with 1999 is the ballads. I'm not crazy about either "Free" (mainly because of the chorus) or "International Lover" (too overblown). Everything else is genius! MPLSound isn't as bad as most people claim, but it just can't compare.

MPLSound makes Chaos & Disorder look like a masterpiece.

MPLSound is seriously the biggest steaming dog turd he's put out, I'd even say it's worse than Rave, and my hate for that *thing* is never-ending.

What about GB? as a complete album it is a disaster, I have edited it many times to a single Prince album, but even the remakes of 80´s outtakes are terrible, in light of that, MPLSound is great...
